Academy - Athletic Academic and Spiritual Formations Director

Full-Time Position | Reports to the Athletic Director

Position Overview: Lipscomb Academy is seeking a passionate and organized Assistant Athletic Director with an Emphasis in Academics & Spiritual Formation to join our Athletics team. This unique role supports the holistic development of our student-athletes academically, spiritually, and athletically. The ideal candidate will bring energy, structure, and spiritual intentionality into all aspects of the athletic experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Oversight & Eligibility

Maintain and manage high school athletic rosters in RenWeb/FACTS.

Confirm all high school and middle school home and away athletic events.

Collaborate on scheduling and internal facility needs.

Assist with TSSAA eligibility compliance.

Run weekly academic reports, including:

Grades below 70%

Missing assignments

Current GPA snapshots

Communicate academic standing to coaches.

Identify student-athletes needing academic support.

Serve as a liaison between teachers, coaches, and student-athletes.

Partner with the Upper School Administration and Academic Support to intervene and support academic success.

Eligibility Monitoring & Communication

Monitor academic eligibility (GPA below 2.5 or any failing grade).

Facilitate meetings with administration and academic support to review data.

Send timely academic eligibility communication:

Warning Letters (midterm of each quarter)

Ineligibility Letters (end of each quarter)

Regain of Eligibility Notices (midterm)

Eligibility Contracts (end of each quarter)

Track and manage student-athlete compliance with eligibility contracts.

Inform coaches of ineligible athletes and collaborate on next steps.

Spiritual Formation

Partner with Spiritual Life to implement spiritual growth opportunities in athletics.

Develop weekly devotionals for in-season teams (Team Chaplain role).

Collaborate with the Missions Department to plan 1-2 athletic mission trips annually.

Coordinate service learning projects with Academy and University that engage student-athletes in and out of season.

Provide mentorship and spiritual support for student-athletes and coaches.

Athletics Operations & Events

Assist with Coaches Meetings, Kick-Off Events, Signing Days, and the Mustang Athletic Awards.

Support event prep, food ordering, and staff communication.

Provide game-day coverage 1-3 evenings per week.

Technology, Media & Game Day Experience

Collaborate with the Technology Department to enhance athletic events.

Operate ScoreVision: manage graphics, highlights, and scoreboard features.

Set up and troubleshoot technology at events.

Manage pre-approved music and ensure sound system functionality.

Create engaging content (photos/videos) for social media in coordination with the Communications team.
