Summary of Job Duties:Under the supervision of Dr. Boysen, the Research Assistant I/II will support laboratory operations and research projects investigating cancer etiology and therapy development. Responsibilities include managing lab workflows, conducting experiments using cell line models and clinical samples, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Qualifications:
  • Level I - Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental health, or related field plus three (3) years of research-related experience required.

  • Level II- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental health, or related field plus four (4) years of research-related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Cell culture.

  • Working with DNA and RNA isolation and analysis protocols.

  • Animal experimentation and handling.

  • Able to stand for a significant period of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in cancer biology, biology, toxicology, or related field.

  • Animal experimentation and handling

  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative(CITI) certification.

  • Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) certification.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains lab inventory, orders supplies, and oversees equipment maintenance.

  • Ensures compliance with biosafety and hazardous material regulations.

  • Trains and supervises junior staff/students on lab protocols.

  • Perform cell culture (L2+), molecular biology (cloning, qPCR), and mutagenesis assays.

  • Process and analyze genomic data from cell lines and clinical samples.

  • Assists in experimental design, data collection, and manuscript/grant preparation.

  • Manages breeding, genotyping, and regulatory documentation for murine models.

  • Process human biospecimens while adhering to ethical guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Frequently - Climbing, Grasping, Kneeling, Lifting, and Repetitive Motion.
