We are looking for a Director of Human Resources with a desire to learn and excel in a fast-paced environment. This full-time position will be responsible for leading the "People Strategy" for Wigwam Mills. Maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee & Labor Relations:

  • Represent all employees without compromising the integrity or objectives of the Company. Maintain a continuing presence on the production floor to listen to the concerns and views of all employees.
  • Assist in the facilitation of communication and resolution of problems amongst employees.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Union to facilitate the greatest possible understanding and the smoothest possible administration of the Labor Agreement.
  • Direct the preparation for bargaining agreement, be part of the Company negotiation team and advise the chief spokesman for the Company during Company negotiations.


Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that comply with state and federal laws and are consistent with our company philosophy.
  • Monitor compliance and assist where necessary in the interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all required government reporting is filed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain necessary personnel documentation for employee files to include wages, overtime, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, status changes, etc.


Talent Management:

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts with hiring managers, including interviewing, pre-employment, on-boarding, and new hire orientation.
  • Manage and monitor the performance evaluation process.
  • Review and revise job descriptions as necessary. Ensure job descriptions are reviewed regularly by incumbent and manager.
  • Ensure that Company compensation program is competitive in the marketplace and consistent with the Company compensation philosophy.
  • Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions.
  • Develop or administer special projects in areas such as pay equity, employee recognition, etc.


HR Department Development:

  • Manage the budget and other financial measures of the HR department.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of the HR department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement of the department and services performed.


Health, Wellness, & Safety:

  • Develop benefit strategy and plan design and administer and direct the employee communication regarding health insurance and other benefits plans.
  • Oversee proper completion and processing of all employee benefits.
  • Evaluate and compare existing Company benefits with those of other employers by communicating with insurance broker, analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
  • Lead the efforts of the Activities Committee and Safety Committee.
  • Administer Workers Compensation and all other associated reporting and case management.
  • Work closely with and supervise the efforts of our EAP, flu shots and biometric screening programs.
  • Oversee the administration of state and federal Family Medical Leave Act and all other applicable leaves.
  • Direct and oversee "Wigwam Mill's Engagement Plan" designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee engagement.


Training & Development:

  • Assist with the development, updating, or modification of training programs for various jobs when applicable.
  • Continually improve human resource skills through SHRM, MRA, conferences, classes, community committees, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Co-Presidents.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct Human Resources experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail.


PREFERENCES:

  • PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience and HR background in a unionized environment.
