Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The FSU Human Resources Office provides comprehensive programs and services to attract, support, and retain high-performing faculty and staff at the University and develop a workforce that efficiently serves the University in support of its mission. The Human Resources department partners with university stakeholders to proactively assist them in achieving their short- and long-term goals and objectives. This is accomplished by implementing best practices to support vice chancellors, deans, directors, department heads, staff, faculty, and supervisors in the areas of:

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Temporary HR Administrative Assistant will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the Classification and Compensation Consultant. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual to assist with job description documentation, communication coordination, data management, and project-based tasks. Confidentiality and exceptional organizational skills are critical for success in this position. The work hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (24 hours per week). This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Classification & Compensation Consultant in daily administrative tasks.
  • Draft and proofread internal communications for supervisor and department distribution.
  • Track and follow up on pending actions or status updates.
  • Coordinate meeting schedules, manage appointments, and logistical arrangements.
  • Update position descriptions within the position management system.
  • Manage and update classification and compensation tracking spreadsheets.
  • Prepare summary tables or charts as needed for reporting purposes.
  • Organize and maintain accurate electronic document filing systems.
  • Respond professionally to general inquiries from university personnel concerning the HR classification and compensation unit.
  • Input and verify data in human resource information systems (HRIS).
  • Test and help document workflows related to new systems or forms.
  • Provide administrative assistance in data collection and process mapping.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to meet unit objectives.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience OR an associate's degree in HR or business administration in a closely related field.
  • At least one year of experience providing administrative support, ideally within HR or an educational institution.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with data entry, collection, and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a confidential environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous administrative experience in human resources at a university or comparable organization.
Prior experience with Human Resources systems (Banner/PeopleAdmin).
