EnviroScience is currently seeking a Senior Malacologist and endangered species specialist to support our growing marine services division which focuses on freshwater mussel surveys and underwater services. Responsibilities include conducting and managing field efforts for freshwater mussel surveys, diving / snorkeling (if desired), stream assessments, preparing and coordinating biological assessments, permit preparation, and technical report and document writing. This position includes occasional travel, weekend work, long hours, and some tasks will require strenuous fieldwork and work during inclement weather. Location can be remote with a survey area from the Mississippi River Valley to the eastern U.S.. Qualified Candidates may work at one of EnviroScience's office locations or remotely. This position is planned as a part-time position; however, full-time positions may be considered for well-qualified candidates that desire fulltime work. Compensation will be based on the applicant and their experience level. Qualifications
This position is a great opportunity for a well-qualified malacologist who enjoys occasional traveling, technical writing, resource agency negotiations, diversified project types, and possesses a high level of self-motivation and enthusiastic leadership. Other qualifications include: * Minimum B.S. degree and M.S, in the Biological Sciences or a B.S. and 15 years of experience in Environmental Science, or related field Additional Beneficial Skills: This position is a mix of office (60%) and includes overnight travel (~40%) to project sites, weekend work, long hours, and some tasks will require strenuous fieldwork and work. The position reports to the Marine Services Biological Ops Manager and works with biologists and divers, tech writers and Ops managers. |
