Role Overview:

The Accountant is responsible for a wide range of accounting and accounting related activities, such as month-end close, account reconciliations and roll forward schedules, fixed asset and lease accounting/deferred rent schedules, managing prepaid, and assisting with monthly financial reporting, annual budget process, property tax and sales and use tax filings, and audit and tax documents preparation.

How You'll Help Our Team Succeed:

  • Manage prepaid schedules and monthly amortization to expense accounts, following up on outstanding and elapsed service invoices and accruing where necessary.
  • Prepare assigned month end journal entries, in compliance with Company standards and policies, in a timely manner.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Maintain fixed assets in Sage Fixed Asset System (e.g. record depreciation, additions, transfers, disposals).
  • Perform monthly analytics and variance analysis.
  • Assist with external audits and annual tax return document preparation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements as appropriate.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • 1+ years of relevant experience; professional services experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel required.

  • Knowledge of Aderant is a plus.

  • Detail and process-oriented with the ability to handle competing deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • The desire to take initiative and actively contribute to the team and the firm.

  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to learn the firm's financial and operational functions.

  • The mindset to provide superior service.

  • The ability to commute to our office in San Francisco or Washington, DC, to comply with our hybrid work policy of 2-3 days per week in office.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other relevant area.

  • CPA or CPA Candidate is a plus.

Cornerstone Research is offering a competitive market base salary for this position. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in all eligible locations. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Cornerstone Research, we believe compensation is more than just a base salary. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes an annual performance bonus and comprehensive benefits such as flexible options for healthcare, paid time off, and retirement savings. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

San Francisco, CA: $66,600.00 - $84,100.00

Washington, DC: $60,200.00 - $76,000.00
