EMS Clinical Coordinator

Location: Clackamas, Oregon (on-site)

Annual Compensation: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 DOE

Coordinates all aspects of the Paramedic Clinical/Field Education Program. Communicates with hospitals and EMS agencies to place students in clinical and/or field rotations. Monitors compliance with requirements of students and manages the clinical contract process.

The Clinical Coordinator coordinates all aspects of the Paramedic Clinical/Field Education Program. Communicates with hospitals and EMS agencies to place students in clinical and/or field rotations. Monitors Student progress throughout the the Clinical and field experience . Manages the clinical contract process.


Responsibilities:

General Oversight

  • Coordinates initiation and renewal of clinical/affiliation agreements with agencies and the Dean.
  • Collaborates with the GMR Learning executive team to ensure current contracts and seeks new clinical/field sites as needed.
  • Participates in regular meetings with Program staff to review student progress and competencies.

Clinical Coordination

  • Develops and maintains relationships with clinical site managers and staff.
  • Schedules clinical rotations at least one week before start; confirms schedules in writing.
  • Provides orientation for students and preceptors per CoAEMSP standards.
  • Reviews clinical goals, objectives, and student scope of practice with site contacts.
  • Supervises and observes students during clinical rotations; makes rounds and contacts preceptors regularly.
  • Tracks student patient contacts by skill/event category.
  • Reviews and evaluates student performance, patient assessments, and documentation.
  • Provides coaching, feedback, and counseling as needed; documents progress and consultations.
  • Identifies students needing additional experience and collaborates on improvement plans.
  • Revises evaluation forms with input from staff and clinical partners to meet regulatory standards.
  • Evaluates clinical sites for continued use and incorporates student feedback.

Field Internship Coordination

  • Builds and maintains relationships with field internship agency staff.
  • Schedules and confirms field rotations; evaluates students' EMS agencies for suitability.
  • Assigns appropriate agencies and preceptors; provides orientation and training per CoAEMSP standards.
  • Reviews internship structure, goals, and student needs with preceptors; supplies evaluation tools.
  • Observes each student during at least one shift; documents competencies and deficiencies.
  • Tracks patient contacts and reviews all patient care reports for quality and completeness.
  • Conducts performance reviews every 100-120 hours of internship.
  • Provides ongoing assessments, feedback, and counseling; documents all interactions.
  • Identifies additional experience needs and collaborates on remediation plans.
  • Revises evaluation forms as needed and evaluates field sites for continued use.
  • Shares student feedback with field sites to improve educational experiences.

Qualifications:
Education & Industry Experience

  • Associate degree preferred
  • Must complete an approved instructor course (as specified by local authority) within one year of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain the following instructor certifications within one year of hire:
    • AHA ACLS Instructor
    • PALS
    • PHTLS Instructor
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive field/clinical experience as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Certified Paramedic or Licensed Registered Nurse required
  • NREMT preferred
  • Current certification/licensure in the Program state
