Job Description:

Teen Vogue's Style Director will oversee the publication's Style sections across platforms including assigning stories, editing, working on sponsored editorials, and pitching long-form packages and cover stories. To help us continue to grow our audience and expand our fashion and beauty coverage even further, we need an ideas generator with a voracious appetite for fashion & beauty trends and an eye for stories that critically examine the culture of style from the Teen Vogue perspective (which includes maintaining a sense of humor and fun!).

The person in this position will also work closely with Teen Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Executive Editor, Art Director, and fashion market team to dictate the direction of the section. They will be responsible for continuing existing coverage and franchises and upholding standards across the site. This is both a top-editing and managerial role, responsible for managing a full-time Associate Fashion & Beauty Editor, freelance writers, and contributing editors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Shape the tone and direction of the Fashion and Beauty section coverage.

  • Pitch, assign, and top-edit fashion and beauty editorial content.

  • Liaison with copy, research, production, art, and photo departments for feature content.

  • Develop and execute engaging features and packages, managing projects from concept to execution.

  • Work with senior editors to grow our reach, audience, and impact.

  • Collaborate with Conde Nast's Global Fashion Network to align priorities between editorial, market, and commerce.

  • Maintain Teen Vogue's sustainability pledge and commitments throughout all fashion and beauty content.

  • Use traffic data and social-media feedback to find new coverage areas, optimize performance, and maintain consistent growth for the section.

  • Work with audience development and video team to develop social video content and franchises, including for TikTok and Instagram.

  • Serve as the section point person for the sales and marketing teams and provide them with ideas/assets as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Talent Group and other editors to launch and spotlight up and coming fashion and beauty talent.

  • Work with the Editor-in-Chief to represent Teen Vogue at Fashion Weeks and other relevant industry events.

  • Contribute to and help lead editorial ideas meetings.

  • Manage all junior beauty and fashion editors.

  • Work with commerce leads and editors to optimize revenue opportunities for the brand while also maintaining brand integrity

  • Bring in new affiliate revenue leads, specifically in areas relevant to Teen Vogue readers.

  • Participating in video, social video, and special events and projects as assigned

  • Tracking monthly budgets and filing and processing SOWs for freelance contributors

  • Onboarding new contributors through CN Onboard system as well as ePayables.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7 years of fashion and beauty editorial experience.

  • At least three (3) years overseeing a team of writers, editors, and freelancers.

  • A big thinker who can collaborate across social, video, branded, and marketing to identify new series and business opportunities.

  • Someone with extensive contacts and deep relationships within the fashion and beauty industry, including publicists, stylists, creatives, and more.

  • Experience using content management systems and social media platforms.

  • Knowledge of relevant celebrities and influencers and the Teen Vogue voice.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments and at differing levels of seniority.

  • Demonstrated success in producing culturally relevant and diverse content.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $110,000-$140,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
