Associate Chair - Physical Therapy

We are currently seeking to fill our Associate Chair - Physical Therapy position at the Georgia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

Job Title: Associate Chair, Physical Therapy
Department: Physical Therapy
FLSA: Exempt
Location: Suwanee, GA
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Chair is responsible for assisting with the Department's administrative responsibilities. These responsibilities include those related to the program, faculty, student development, or other tasks assigned by the department chair. The Associate Chair may liaise between the faculty and the department chair. The Chair and Associate Chair shall communicate regularly and candidly regarding issues within the Department. This position will report to the Department Chairperson and assume the Chair's duties when absent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to:
Faculty Development
o Lead faculty development activities aligned with departmental goals.
o Guide faculty in developing teaching improvement plans.
o Supervise the Director of Clinical Education.
o Participate in teaching, service, and scholarship in areas of expertise.
Committee Oversight
o Chair the Student Progress Evaluation Committee (SPEC) and the Curriculum Committee.
o Oversee departmental committees
* Monitor the progress of committee charges.
* Review committee goals with individual chairpersons
* Liaise with the Department Chair on all committee charges and duties.
o Provide oversight of the ongoing development, implementation, and revision of the program curriculum and instruction.
o Lead annual review of the curriculum and solicit recommendations for revision from core faculty, students, clinical instructors/CCCEs, employers/peers, and other appropriate stakeholders.
o Attend PCOM's Graduate Programs Curriculum Committee.
o Collect and archive all meeting minutes from all department committees.
Assessment and Accreditation
o Develop, implement, and oversee assessment processes for the DPT program in collaboration with the Department Chair.
o Guide annual review of policies related to faculty and student development issues and solicit recommendations from core faculty, students, employers/peers, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
o Ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to faculty development, program assessment, management of student academic/conduct issues, and all curricular elements.
o Develop essential reports required for submission with applications for accreditation.
Program Operations - Student Retention & Progression
o Assist the Department Chair in the policy development, implementation, and revisions related to student advancement.
o Lead student discipline and academic progression processes.
o Oversee the study hall schedule, selection and training of tutors, and mandatory student attendance.
o Develop in collaboration with the Department Chair and implement appropriate action plans related to student academic performance or professional behavior.
o Liaise with the Department Chair on all student concerns not resolved through action plans or other development measures.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
* A doctoral degree in physical therapy from an accredited, entry-level program.
* An earned academic doctorate from an accredited institution.
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in physical therapist education
* Must be licensed or eligible for a license in the State of Georgia
Experience and Qualifications
* Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
* Strong time management and organization skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment.
* Proficiency with educational technologies and information systems.
* Knowledge of trends and issues in professional and physical therapist education.
Preferred Qualifications
* Background in student counseling and development.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
* Must be licensed or eligible for license in the State of Georgia

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting.
