Working with us, your primary focus will support large signature SmithGroup Projects, this includes:
- Work with project teams and provide daily BIM leadership on assigned projects via BIM Execution development & management, and project model organization/planning.
- Lead and support the project team's project(s) model fidelity maintenance across all disciplines.
- Hold regular meetings with the project team to review model status and model derivative deliverables.
- Be a resource to project teams and develop innovative solutions to support project needs.
- Assist with SmithGroup's standardized QA/QC model coordination reviews.
- Collaborate with practitioners and clients to develop, deliver, and document innovative solutions for project-related challenges.
Additionally, working with us, your secondary responsibilities may include:
- Provide mentoring to practitioners in the use of computational design, BIM authoring technologies, and visualization software.
- Contribute to firmwide support by assisting with SmithGroup's internal technology helpdesk.
- Assist in developing firm-wide technology solutions, content, workflow development, training collateral, and our BIM strategy. This involves researching, testing, and deploying related software and hardware to foster innovation throughout project phases.
- Help set the direction and adoption of design workflows, automation, BIM content and standards as well as evaluate and develop use cases for new technology across our entire firm.
An ideal candidate has:
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- 7 or more years of experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry, including 5 or more years inBIM leadership roles.
- Proficiency in all Revit toolsets (Architecture, MEP, and Structural), as well as familiarity with complementary BIM authoring software and related add-ins such as UNIFI, Keynote Manager, Ideate tools, CTC Revit Suites, and IMAGINiT Clarity.
- Experience in instructing technology, including creating training collateral such as standards documents, web-based classes, and blog posts.
- Curiosity about how different software packages work together, enabling seamless data transfer and translation.
- Previous experience supporting Revit platform applications in complex model and team environments, including less common deliverables like IFC and COBie.
- Extensive experience with Autodesk's Cloud hosting solutions for Revit (BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Desktop Connector, etc.)
- Proficiency in automating solutions using visual programming tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper), traditional scripting (Python, C#), or tools like IMAGINiT Clarity.
- Understanding of Digital Delivery tools beyond Revit, including Bluebeam, ReCap, Navisworks, and PlanGrid, with awareness of their strengths and weaknesses.
- Familiarity with laser scanning, AR/VR, and 3D printing technologies and processes.
- Strong interest and aptitude for troubleshooting model performance issues.
- Strong communication skills, both within a team setting and when explaining technology solutions at various levels.
