The IT Technician II provides support of all NOVA Parks' PC/telecommunications equipment, including installation, and configuration of all hardware and software. The IT Technician II assists in troubleshooting and maintaining security systems, network appliances, and other equipment such as copiers and Point of Sales Terminals. The IT Technician II is responsible for the planning and deployment of all PC hardware and software including any peripheral equipment. The IT Technician II aids and supports the IT Administrator as part of a collaborative team. This position reports directly to the IT Administrator, with latitude for independent judgement and action on specific projects. Hiring Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (with illustrative examples of work)
Assist in maintenance of computer operations:
- Installs, configures, upgrades, and troubleshoots problems related to hardware, software, and other equipment.
- Assists the IT Administrator with asset management tasks such as budgeting, planning, and deploying all new IT related equipment as well as carries out depreciation processes of old equipment.
- Assists the IT Administrator in the planning and execution of all telecommunications installs at new and existing facilities.
- Assists the IT Administrator with the rollout of new mobile devices and applications via the NOVA Parks MDM system as well as assists with offboarding and remote management.
- Provides hardware and software support of PCs and network/telecommunications system equipment.
- Troubleshoots problems in a multitude of environments such as via online ticket system, phone, in person both on location of headquarters facility and in the field at park locations.
- Diagnoses, tracks, resolves, and documents all problems utilizing NOVA Parks Support Ticket System.
- Advises, trains, and assists users on internet security best practices utilizing Security Awareness Training Platforms.
- Executes advanced user account processes in a domain network environment such as user account onboarding and offboarding.
- Conducts various system security related tasks such as account Multi-Factor Authentication setup, Security Awareness Training Enrollment, and firewall monitoring.
- Maintains current working knowledge of hardware and software applications in use at NOVA Parks.
- Assists in development of and participates in PC and software training programs.
- Aids in computer system advice and support to all NOVA Parks employees.
- Strives to support automation initiatives for all departments.
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (minimum) Education: Graduation from an accredited two-year college/university with an associate's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Physical: Non-manual and manual work with strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions in an office setting; will lift and carry heavy boxes and equipment up to 50 pounds. Experience: Four or more years of general experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC/telecommunications equipment or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides:
- Working knowledge of personal computers, printers, peripheral devices, switches, wireless access points, gateways, and other cloud management network systems.
- Working knowledge of personal computer software and systems including Active Directory, LAN/WAN, WLAN, VPN, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2019, Microsoft Azure/Entra, Exchange Online, and other Cloud Admin Tools.
- Ability to implement and configure various network equipment such as network firewalls, e-mail spam firewalls, and backup devices.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, maas360, or other MDM platforms a plus.
- Cyber Security/Internet Security experience a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software and tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Skill in troubleshooting a variety of computer and network problems including hardware and software.
- Ability to detect, diagnose, and take corrective actions in the event of program or machine malfunction.
- Knowledge of the operation and use of telephone systems, security systems, and other office machines and equipment.
- Work independently from the IT Administrator
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to make informed decisions.
- Maintain records and documentation.
- Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Availability for call in emergency situations.
- Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times including shift work and weekends.
