We're hiring an HQ/AOX staff engineer in Chemical Intermediates Manufacturing Department. In this role, you'll partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineers, and other support staff to identify and implement improvements to the manufacturing process in areas of safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and reliability. Other duties include day-to-day troubleshooting and assistance with crew projects. This position reports to the HQ/AOX Operations Area Manager.

How you'll help us innovate to build a better world




  • Develop strong technical understanding of the processes, peroxide chemistry, and reactions within the processes.
  • Provide daily technical support for production processes, utilizing technical expertise to resolve plant issues and repairs.
  • Own several Process Hazard Analysis studies including review and implementation of action items, LOPA studies, and revalidations as applicable.
  • Organize and prioritize a project portfolio for PHA action item execution and update key stakeholders within the operating division on progress.
  • Drive reliability and other general improvements within the department.
  • Work closely with Technical, Operational and Maintenance resources to identify, develop, and implement improvement projects.
  • Champion Zero Incident Mindset: Engage with team members to promote safety and reliability improvements.
  • Support and assist crews in investigating incidents to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work with operations to improve operational discipline around technical needs and daily cadences through system development and strong communication skills.
  • Provide section environmental support for production processes including Title V air emissions, reasonable inquiries, semi-annual reviews, and state audits.
  • Serve as the Manufacturing interface with Engineering and HSES departments, as required.
  • Serve on Food Safety Team for food grade products in AOX and as campaign co-coordinator with Technologist for USP HQ campaign.
  • Provide operational oversight for the MOC process, as needed.
  • Provide back-up assistance in the absence of the Area Manager when needed.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers and technical support in the area.
  • Provide occasional weekend duty coverage for the department once onboarding training is complete.
  • Project Development and Implementation: Develop and implement capital projects (cSCPs & SERs) and manage a project portfolio by coordinating resources.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, preferred
  • Strong technical and engineering skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support working with cross functional team of employees.
  • Experience in a broad spectrum of chemical processing unit operations, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Adaptability to work within a fast-changing work environment. Situations and timelines can change quickly. Being flexible to change focus is key. The ability to move forward multiple efforts concurrently is necessary.
  • Commitment of ~5+ years in role to build strong technical knowledge of process.
