Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration is to provide students within the department the skills and knowledge needed to secure jobs and careers in the area of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration. Another purpose is to prepare students to attend graduate school at the Master and PhD levels.

The mission of the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration is to prepare quality professionals in the areas of Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, Physical Education and Recreation Administration, facilitate practical and action-based research and scholarly inquiry.

The undergraduate Kinesiology Degree program offers concentrations in Fitness and Wellness, Strength and Conditioning, and Physical Education. The Recreation Administration degree program offers concentrations in Parks and Recreation Management, Recreational Sport Management with Business Minor, Recreational Sport Management with Sports Coaching Minor, and Recreational Therapy.

The four interrelated units of Sports Medicine, Kinesiology; Physical Education; and Recreation Administration serve our constituents through teaching, research endeavors, and service designed to prepare professionals that will impact the well-being of society as a whole.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to teach 12 hours per semester of courses in the Kinesiology undergraduate program; Demonstrated ability and credentials to teach undergraduate courses in (adapted)/ fitness, exercise physiology, biomechanics, fitness assessment, program design (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) mode of delivery. participate in department/college curricular and programmatic development; show a demonstrated commitment to professional organizations; provide departmental, community engagement, and professional service.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Teach 12 hours per semester; advise students at the undergraduate level. Complete committee assignments for department and university. Participate in department/college curricular and programmatic development; develop community and university partnerships for student enrichment and practicum experiences, as well as engage in professional and public service; and demonstrate a documented level of technological proficiency and ability to develop and deliver online courses.
Minimum Education/Experience
The successful candidate must have a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology, Fitness, Recreation or related field. At least two years of experience teaching at the University level. Evidence of at least one Nationally recognized Certification ( CSCS, ACSM, NSCA, etc.). Evidence of successful teaching experience in the realm of Kinesiology, Fitness, Sport or other related courses including adaptations and modifications of movements. Ability to develop and teach online courses. Ability to recruit, advise, and mentor undergraduate students, and serve on departmental committees.
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
( CSCS, ACSM, NSCA (preferably CSCS Certification)
