Job Description

Lead Central Processing Technician | CPD | New York, NY

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Central Processing Department at MSK is looking for a Lead Central Processing Technician to join their team. The Lead Technician will play a meaningful role in reducing the risk of infections and promoting patient safety within our hospital.

Role Overview:

    Direct staff in the proper procedures for the decontamination. hi-level disinfection, tray assembly, and sterilization processes.
  • Assist the Supervisor with daily departmental operational activities and training of department personnel to new procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Check decontamination equipment for accurate function. Operate equipment according to Departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Inspect and prepare surgical instruments for cleaning and decontamination.
  • Decontaminate surgical instruments, rigid scopes and equipment.
  • Receive, tag, and process non bar-coded instruments from clinical areas and patient floors
  • Clean and disinfect patient care equipment and build all basic instrument sets. Assemble all sophisticated/speciality sets once trained.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding in the assembly and preparation of instrument sets for the appropriate method of sterilization.
  • Utilize the instrument management system to accurately document the distribution of trays and individual instruments during the case cart assembly and distribution process.
  • Assemble case carts in sequence of the surgical schedule in accordance with Pick List.
  • Place items in case carts to ensure easy access, visible label and to support good ergonomics.

Key Qualifications:

  • A good decision-maker successful at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
  • Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with a diverse group of people to meet shared objectives and goals.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and pushing and pulling carts containing up to 200 lbs of material
  • Familiar with handling hazardous chemicals and able to stand for extended periods of time while working in area with high temperatures

Core Skills:

  • CRCST Certification
  • Two years of relevant experience (preferred)
  • The ability to lead a team using good judgment, rational decision making, and emotional intelligence.

Additional Information:

  • Location: 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY
  • Shift: 7am-3pm; Monday through Friday, rotating weekends and holidays

Pay Range: $31.24-$48.42
