1st Shift - Team Leader Prog POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Area Manager, the Team Leader is responsible to provide leadership to meet the department's key metric goals. The team leader will use the Midway Production System (MPS) to continually improve performance by using such lean tools as 5S, standard work, kaizen, process confirmation (process audit), and job observation to name a few. The team leader will motivate employees to achieve or exceed area's key metric goals. The team leader must be able to effectively communicate to all team members. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Under the supervision of the Area Manager, works with team members to support plant policies and procedures to ensure effective operations consistent with the Midway Production System (MPS).
- Accountable for the day-to-day decisions that directly impact the safety, quality, efficiency, and people of the assigned area.
- Working with the area manager, the team leader will assist in creating a plan to meet key metric goals.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including the use of PPE, and ensure compliance of all safety rules and procedures. Report all accidents, injuries and near misses. Work with the area manager in reporting and investigating the incident and developing countermeasures.
- Perform daily start-up and close-out confirmations.
- Completes hourly production reviews to ensure all work centers are meeting key metrics. Address issues/abnormalities as needed and follow-up to ensure resolved.
- Directs and mentors the team members in the performance of their respective roles.
- Fosters an environment which promotes Midway Products Group goals, encourages continuous improvement, and builds relationships. Able and willing to participate on multi-discipline teams to resolve production challenges and improve operations.
- Completes Process Confirmations on all processes and Periodic Job Observations (PJO) and Deep Knowledge Discussions (DKD) with all team members within area of assignment.
- Develops, trains, coaches, and motivates team members.
- With assistance from the area manager, execute and sustain the 5S plan.
- Escalate any issues not resolved to area manager for follow up.
- Communicates with Quality to ensure consistent application of quality processes/procedures
- Ensures all employees have been given the necessary tools to perform duties, i.e. personal protective equipment, small tools, accurate work instructions, & quality alerts.
- Distributes all work in a fair and equitable manner.
- Adhere to the escalation procedures designated by the plant and or department manager
- Update and report out on production data, variances to target and / or general information
- Adheres to overtime planning and communication process
- Treats all team members with respect & dignity.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- High school diploma.
- 2 - 3 years relevant work experience in a production environment preferred.

MAJOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The Team Member will be required to walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Will be required to exert up to 50 pounds of pressure occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires work in a stamping and assembly plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes and machinery.
