The Opportunity

This role sits within the Customer Excellence group which is focused on enabling greater customer centricity in GP by gathering and sharing business insights and feedback, promoting procurement solutions and services and simplifying partnering with procurement for the business.

As the Procurement Partnering Lead Diagnostics R&D, you will work in a dynamic global environment where you will meet the challenge to bring vision, guidance, prioritization, and focus on customer engagement and satisfaction.

Thanks to your deep ambassadorial and partnering skills you will nurture the relationship with key and senior internal Roche business customers to become a strategic partner and advisor, able to influence decision making and/or remove barriers relating to procurement services and solutions. Based on your specialized and in-depth knowledge about your business customer's strategy, priorities and needs, you proactively identify and anticipate customer needs and opportunities (push and pull opportunities) to increase overall procurement value delivery to internal Roche business customers. You will work closely with relevant capabilities of all chapters in procurement, to develop a targeted procurement customer strategy that prioritizes and focuses efforts to drive value back to the customer and achieve overall targets and performance metrics.

You will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and the general business/team requirements, including but not limited to these core responsibilities:

  • You act as a customer domain expert using a deep understanding of business customer strategies and objectives to provide business-related insights and opportunities to the procurement organization to enable and develop effective and desirable procurement offerings targeted at the applicable business area.

  • You are a strategy developer and value driver of customer-targeted procurement strategies, with accountability for creating and maintaining a holistic, long-term, and targeted plan to support the applicable business customer's success, including prioritization of business support requirements and proactively proposing and, where feasible, securing buy-in / sponsorship (at business senior management level) for applicable procurement services and solutions that deliver on the applicable business area's value objectives like savings and other business area-targeted metrics.

  • You are a Procurement ambassador and customer partner, acting as the primary point of contact for specific senior business customers (upper management) focused on representing and leveraging the procurement networks to deliver for and optimize customer experiences and outcomes, including identifying procurement opportunities, promoting solutions, and advocating for customer compliance (i.e., with policies, tools, processes) and adoption.

  • You will work with your team, the broader Global Procurement organization, networks, and squads/project teams to ensure prioritization and focus on delivering or supporting both project and foundational work.

Who you are:

  • You hold a university degree, with a business or life science degree preferable.

  • You have 10+ years of experience with procurement (multi-category) or relevant sales or customer management leadership experience, ideally in a matrix organization.

  • You have demonstrated success in building and cultivating collaborative and productive relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • You have experience in R&D, Clinical operations/trials and market access in the context of Diagnostics business .

  • You have demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas to others and effectively influence and negotiate with senior-level stakeholders and leadership to make decisions, endorse/use a capability offering; negotiate with senior staff at external partners or vendors (where applicable).

  • You strive to act as an enterprise thinker and leverage knowledge and expertise to create solutions for business customers by proactively fostering collaboration, including across the procurement network.

  • You are action-oriented and can make decisions and influence others to do the same

  • You demonstrate curiosity, active listening and a willingness to experiment and test new ideas when appropriate, with the focus very much on continuous learning and improvement.

  • You have an enterprise mindset to work with colleagues across procurement, business and the wider Roche organization to broaden knowledge and expertise, better understand customer needs, and connect the dots.

  • You are open-minded and inclusive, generously sharing ideas and knowledge while being receptive to ideas and feedback from others.

  • You are fluent in English to a business level.

  • Sales and/or business development experience is preferred.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $118,400 and $220,000 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
