HOURLY RATE: $40.19

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for achieving multiple site production performance results associated with activities performed or supported at each site. Performance results include, but are not limited to, Safety, Environmental, Quality, Schedule and Production KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). They will work in concert and alignment with other Sr. Production Managers, Superintendents Programs, Projects and Shared Services Functions to develop macro and micro work plans designed to achieve performance objectives. The position will report to the Marine Production Manager and all site production personal shall report through various supervisor levels (Superintendents and Supervisors) to the Marine Electrical Lead. Proactive and prospective reviews of work plan and schedule shall be conducted along with progressing to determine cost and schedule performance. Active measures shall be taken to improve cost and schedule performance, and clear definable mitigation plans shall be established when negative variances occur or are projected, these shall be tracked until resolved or stabilized.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lives the Vigor Values.
  • Individual or key technical personnel shall contribute to development of final production plans and assisting in development/alignment of engineering, procurement and material delivery to workstations, QC, and QA.
  • Accountable to train skilled craft personnel to support work across site and properly assign personnel to the work in alignment with production goals, schedule and plan based on skills and abilities. Working closely with the Marine Production Manager to obtain/retain diverse people and leading them to be exceptional members of Vigor and as required administer corrective action.
  • Partners with the Marine Production Manager for overall program performance and P&L.
  • Accountable to establish a safe work site and ensure that all leaders and workers adhere to company policies and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for production performance of regularly reported KPIs.
  • Accountable for adherence of completed work and worker performance to agreed quality systems, requirements of third-party regulations as applicable and to specifications or contracts.
  • Accountable to develop, create and maintain a positive, inclusive work environment for all team members.
  • Accountable to hold themselves to Vigor Values and promote and grow Vigor's values within leadership and workforce.
  • Responsible to review/verify all weekly production progressing produced/created or updated by Projects.
  • Responsible to review and evaluate regularly reported KPIs (weekly, monthly or for other key events or milestones.
  • Responsible to be well versed with all specification requirements and familiar with contractual requirements to ensure work is performed as expected and support for contract management is provided.
  • Coordinates with support services personnel to ensure equipment, facility, inventory, material and other required items are available to support work.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement and control the production schedule and ensure alignment with program schedules
  • Review and adjust the schedule where needed
  • Strong alignment and communication with Engineering and Projects groups to communicate needs and production solution/improvement requests.
  • Determine the human resources required
  • Work with all other craft disciplines (ex. Welding, painting, mechanical etc) to collaboratively execute production goals
  • Determine the material resources required
  • Manage human and material resources to meet production targets
  • Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement
  • Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production operations
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
  • Set product quality standards
  • Monitor quality standards of products
  • Enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
  • Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process
  • Prepare and maintain production reports
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement

JOB SCOPE:
The position operates within established policies and procedures covering each workstation. The individual must have agreement from applicable Supervisors, Production Manager(s) and/or Production Director to revise standard work practices regarding safety, environmental rules and revision to work shifts. In addition, the responsibility to work with Project Managers to develop build strategy plans. Incumbent is responsible for condition, function, safety, operations and compliance of facilities and all equipment associated within said facilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
The role manages approximately 2-15 craft employees in various skills in numerous workstations in manufacturing shops in Vancouver and Portland. He/she is accountable for employee training and qualification, ensuring daily maintenance of equipment and upkeep, and other general housekeeping . The Marine Electrical Lead will be required to document corrective actions and conduct performance reviews of staff.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
The individual will interact with other managers in performance of this role and be required to coordinate scope of work with other company priorities. He/she may be required to communicate at all levels within the organization and will also at times interact with customers on shop floors and in meetings.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written for constant interaction with all departments and employee levels as well as customers
  • Proficient with ABS, IEEE, and UL 508 rules/guidelines
  • Ability to lead, manage and motivate employees in a production environment. This includes the ability to redirect team members when production hurdles arise.
  • Ability to lead consolidation of multiple locations into a single operation. Critical change management skills will be required.
  • Must have the analytical ability to research problem areas and special requests
  • Must be a well-organized, detail-oriented self-starter.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, work orders, blueprints, contracts and technical publications (Gov't specifications, drawings and federal requirements)

  • Must be able to schedule, direct and organize work within a diverse department and coordinate work with other departments to maintain efficiency.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 years of experience in the marine industry (electrical capacity) with vessel construction and production environment. The incumbent must have experience and thorough knowledge of production procedures, government regulations, and administrative procedures within a marine program with a background in continuous process improvement. He/she must have experience and a working knowledge of all specific operations of departments, including all machinery and tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity. In total 50% normal office environment and 50% of time spent in production areas in yard. Must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; or review work at heights. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour with occasional weekend work.
This position may require occasional travel within the greater metropolitan area.Unless approved by the General Manager in advance, mileage accrued within this expected work areas will not be eligible for reimbursement but will be in alignment with Vigor's reimbursement policy."
