Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to lead and support initiatives within our machine shop operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving capital projects, implementing process improvements, and supporting the manufacturing team through technical expertise and continuous improvement strategies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and operational excellence.

Compensation: $80,000- 100,000/ year



Responsibilities

    Lead and manage capital projects from conception through implementation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve product quality within the machine shop.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure accuracy and consistency in manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee CNC machining operations, driving efforts to optimize production efficiency, maximize runtime, and reduce downtime.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automation systems to streamline manufacturing workflows and increase throughput.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the production planning team, ensuring process steps are accurate and align with product specifications.
  • Design machining cut up plans and create/maintain detailed SolidWorks drawings for manufacturing needs.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, planning, and operations to ensure successful integration of new processes and technologies.


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a machine shop.
  • Proven experience leading capital projects and implementing manufacturing process improvements.
  • Proficient in GD&T and SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining operations and automation technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in manufacturing.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid of office and shop floor: Office space for design, documentation, and meetings.
  • PPE usage where required (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots)
  • Machine shop or production floor for hands-on interaction with manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Access to CNC machines, CMMs, and automation systems for process improvement.
  • Typically day shift, with occasional off-shift or weekend work for project deadlines or equipment trials.
