In partnership, Mass General Brigham, a national leader in healthcare delivery and research, The Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK), an in-district charter of the Boston Public Schools (BPS); Bunker Hill Community College, and the City of Boston are collaborating to design and implement a Health Careers Training Partnership. This partnership embodies the vision of high school experience that inspires and empowers youth to meet the urgent healthcare needs of our communities. With MGB leveraging its vast network of healthcare expertise to teach and prepare our next generation of healthcare workers, as they in turn learn from the lived experiences of EMK's student population. A nearly quarter-century partnership between MGB and EMK has evolved into a collective action strategy focused on community and health system impact. The Director for the Health Careers Training Partnership will report to the Chief Community Health & Health Equity Officer. The director will be responsible for overseeing and managing the collaborative efforts between Mass General Brigham, Edward M Kennedy Academy, Bunker Hill Community College, and the City of Boston to provide high-quality health careers training programs within the public school system. The director will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that prepare students for careers in healthcare, fostering a pipeline of skilled professionals in the community. Strong leadership, discretion and excellent judgment, superior organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize and complete a wide range of tasks. Uses highest levels of judgement to coordinate/delegate as appropriate to team members and school/hospital-based colleagues.

Essential Functions
1. Strategic Planning: Serve as project director on the Mass General Brigham side to drive the implementation plan and as main point of contact on the project. Responsible for identifying and elevating roadblocks/risks and key decisions to be resolved to the steering committee. Work collaboratively with operational and clinical leadership to facilitate meeting discussions, engage all relevant stakeholders, and develop useful presentation materials with the goal of advancing and achieving the stated milestones and objectives. Engage subject matter clinical experts to advise EMK on technical skills curriculum selections. Identify and report on key milestones, performance metrics, and benchmarks to assess the success of the program.
2. Program Design & Implementation: Collaborate with educators, healthcare professionals, and industry experts to help design and enhance Health Careers Training program and curriculum for high school students including a combination of career exploration talks at EMK, visits to MGB facilities, simulation experiences, and in the last two years of high school, clinical externship experiences and unpaid/for credit internships. Partner with Human Resources to ensure job search support for program graduates and tracking of graduates and hires within the MGB system. With the departmental clinical leaders/managers, ensure that curriculum aligns with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the evolving needs of the healthcare sector.
3. Partnership Management: Foster and maintain strong relationships between representatives of the public school system, EMK, BHCC, and academic medical centers. Maintain and revise project governance including multiple levels of project committees and workstreams to move specific aspects of the matrixed project forward. Coordinate regular meetings for these groups, communication channels, and joint initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the partnership. Ensure effective and collaborative communication between all stakeholders (Boston Public Schools, City of Boston, Mass General Brigham, Edward M Kennedy Academy, Bunker Hill Community College). Develop strong, positive relationships with all levels of staff within the assigned area of work; collaborates with these colleagues to leverage their expertise and experiences to identify best practices and advance the work. Provide timely and accurate progress reports on all current initiatives. Prepare concise, professional summaries of analyses and plans as requested. Communicate project plans, project objectives and milestones, implementation plans to all stakeholders and other relevant parties. Ensure strong relationships with Bloomberg Philanthropies and related consultants and serve as the primary point of contact for both entities.
4. Student Engagement: Co-design intake process and EMK graduate job search process with Human Resources Workforce Development for student graduates seeking employment. Work with initiative team members to implement strategies to retain graduates in health careers training programs. In collaboration with program staff and departmental coordinators, ensure connections to MGB system wide programs and department level supports including mentorship opportunities, internships, tuition reimbursement, and career counseling and navigation. Additionally, work closely with MGB Youth Programs, EMK and the Boston PIC teams to ensure EMK students have submitted applications for after school programming including summer internships.
5. Quality Assurance: Work with Evaluation and Reporting Workstream Lead to establish and maintain a system for continuous program monitoring and improvement based on feedback, data analysis, and industry trends. Ensure compliance with educational standards, accreditation requirements, and relevant regulations.
6. Supervisory & Fiscal Responsibilities: Oversight of the Work-based learning program for > 800 students in all grades (9-12). Oversight of identified career pathways and preceptors' development. Oversight and tracking of budget management and financial reporting for Health Careers Training Partnership, ensuring efficient use of resources. Provide Bloomberg Philanthropies, MGB Budget Directors and other Finance professionals with data and reports to allow for necessary budget management and adjustments. In collaboration with MFGB and BPS development teams, seek external funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support program sustainability and expansion. Supervise 1 Program Specialist/Manager, and in future years, 2 Career Navigators.

Education:

1.Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in Education, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field.

2. Master's degree preferred. Preferably in Education, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to foster trust and collaboration within all levels of an organization and throughout a complex variety of departments in multiple disciplines when indicated.

2. Knowledge of health career training programs, curriculum development and industry standards and/or experience with youth career pathway programs.

3. Strong analysis and problem-solving skills: able to gather data, compile information from a variety of disparate sources and manipulate large amounts of data, able to ensure data integrity using quality checks at various points in the process.

4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills. Ability to present data to both business and clinical constituents in a clear, meaningful manner. Ability to effectively respond to time sensitive issues.

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Visio, Teams, SharePoint), familiarity with Google G-Suite a plus and adept at leading new software applications.
