Job Summary

The Center for Regulatory Science and Innovation (CRSI) at UCSF is seeking an experienced and dynamic Administrative Director to lead and manage the operational, administrative, and strategic activities of the Center. This individual will report to the Center's Director and Vice Dean in the School of Pharmacy and oversee the launch and operations of the new Master of Science in Global Regulatory Science and Innovation (MS in GRSI) program, coordinating closely with academic leadership, students, faculty, and external partners. The individual will also serve as project manager of the UCSF-Stanford Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI), a collaboration between UCSF, Stanford University, and the FDA focused on advancing regulatory science.

The Administrative Director will play a critical role in supporting the Center's growth, enhancing organizational efficiency, driving new initiatives, and maintaining compliance with university policies.


***NOTE: This is a 1-year Full-Time Hybrid Contract role.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $109,400 - $164,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Center of Global Regulatory Science and Innovation is to establish a world-leading organization to advance regulatory science and transform drug development through AI, innovative research, effective education, and proactive outreach. It main mission is to:

  • Conduct innovative research that integrates AI tools to speed up drug development and licensing
  • Transform educational programs through effective and modernized degree and certification programs for regulatory science and AI development
  • Engage with global regulatory bodies, industry leaders, and academic partners to foster collaborative research projects and foster harmonized regulatory practices that are efficient and scientifically grounded

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in regulatory science and policy, project management, government administration, health sciences, business administration, or related area and / or equivalent experience / trainingor a related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible administrative, project management, regulatory science, or operations experience.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving and customer service.
  • Advanced knowledge of common computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Knowledge of regulatory science, biomedical research environments, or healthcare policy is a plus.
