Job Summary

This position coordinates customer service delivery to the campus community and external clients on behalf of the department, ensuring the garage equipment is in operational order (including gate arms, ticket dispensers, intercoms, and fee computers); provides general campus information, directions, parking alternatives and other information to customers. The Field Service Specialist will assist in barricading lots, placing signage and assisting with campus event parking operations in assigned facilities. This position is required to work outside for the entirety of shift, standing and walking for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.

This position plays an ambassador role for the department and university and will interact on a regular basis: faculty, staff, students, and guests.

This position typically will advise and counsel: Customers.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Assist customers in the use of the parking system at the pay-on-foot locations and entry/exit lanes in a professional manner, offering payment options, addressing any issues related to parking, providing general campus information to the guests, parking alternatives, etc.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide minor cleaning and equipment maintenance such as clearing ticket dispensers, adjusting gate arms, intercom, fee computer problems.

Job Duty 3 -
Report critical equipment malfunctions, service/maintenance and enforcement concerns to their supervisor for resolution.

Job Duty 4 -
Manage traffic flow during peak ingress and egress periods and events, for efficient entry and exit of traffic.

Job Duty 5 -
Monitor space availability and utilization; assist with events and reservation accommodation as necessary.

Job Duty 6 -
Periodically conduct space and utilization counts.

Job Duty 7 -
Light portering to ensure the parking areas stay clean and clear of debris throughout each shift.

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma.

Other Required Qualifications
Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
Valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment

Required Experience
One to two years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Two or more years of job-related experience. Experience in outdoor settings with a high-volume service environment. Experience working in parking operations at a university, city or airport. Experience working with parking/access revenue control equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
This job requires knowledge of credit/debit card transactions and related record keeping. Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook). Basic knowledge of garage equipment maintenance to resolve minor issues. Basic knowledge of parking lot and facility operations to assist the team effectively.

SKILLS
Customer service and communications skills are required as is the use of office-related computer applications, Problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
