Software Engineer I

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented junior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for individuals early in their software development careers who have a strong foundation in Python, basic SQL, and good programming skills. You will work closely with senior engineers on building and optimizing software components, writing clean and efficient code, and participating in code reviews and testing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python.

  • Apply good programming skills to develop and improve software features.

  • Write and execute basic SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.

  • Collaborate with senior developers in the design, development, and testing of software modules.

  • Participate in code reviews and debugging sessions.

  • Document code, processes, and configurations as needed.

  • Stay current with new technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in software development.

  • Good programming skills and ability to write clear, efficient code.

  • Proficiency in Python with experience writing scripts or backend services.

  • Knowledge of basic SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY).

  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

  • Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to web frameworks (e.g., Flask or Django).

  • Experience with APIs or backend systems.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or containerization tools (Docker).

Remote: US only roles

The anticipated base salary range in the United States is $62,000 to $77,500. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
