As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you'll play a critical role at the intersection of technology and strategy-driving the design, development, migration, and operation of scalable, cloud-first data solutions. Your work will span both on-premise and Azure-based environments, ensuring seamless integration with our company's data vision and long-term strategy. In this senior role, you will:
Participate in the implementation of high-impact data engineering projects
Design and optimize robust data pipelines and workflows Spearhead the migration of legacy data workloads to the Azure cloud Troubleshoot complex data integration challenges with a performance-driven mindset Act as a subject matter expert in Azure technologies, including ADF, Synapse, ADLS, and more
Beyond your technical contributions, you'll shape and elevate our data engineering practices-mentoring peers, influencing standards, and ensuring our data platforms are secure, scalable, and future-ready. Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Solution Delivery
Lead as a senior developer in data engineering and operational projects, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and best practice-compliant execution Implement and execute end-to-end data solutions in collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams Deliver all solutions and code in alignment with departmental standards and company security guidelines Understand business processes and integrate those considerations-especially production support-into solution design
Cloud & Data Platform Expertise
Demonstrate deep expertise in cloud technologies, particularly within Microsoft Azure ecosystem (ADF, ADLS, Synapse, VMs, SQL Server, Event Hub, etc.) Apply advanced knowledge of cloud architecture and data engineering best practices to build scalable, secure, and efficient systems
Mentorship & Cross-Team Collaboration
Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to database developers and engineers across teams and projects Promote growth of internal talent by supporting upskilling on new and emerging technologies Foster collaboration across business units to ensure alignment of technical solutions with enterprise goals
Qualifications
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (required)
- Minimum of 10 years' professional experience within IT that includes a minimum of five (5) years' experience with SSIS, SQL servers, and a minimum of five (5) years' experience with Azure (required)
- Licenses/Certification: Azure Certifications (Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator, Azure Network Engineer, or equivalent) (preferred)

- Database Technology and Concepts: Expert knowledge of database technology, server maintenance, procedures, and multiple database scripting languages.
- Data Management: Expert knowledge in data warehouse and data management concepts, including data modeling.
- System Integration: Strong knowledge of system integration designs and architectures.
- Virtual Server Technology: Working knowledge of virtual server technology.
- Windows Systems: Broad knowledge of Windows system, operating system principles, and programming best practices.
Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge
- Regulatory Requirements: Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA, PCI) as they relate to data integrity and privacy.
- Data Integrity and Privacy: Ensuring compliance with data integrity and privacy standards.
Project and Leadership Skills
- Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Problem Solving and Judgment: Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Project Management: Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), especially Agile, and project planning/execution skills, including estimating and scheduling.
- Self-Sufficiency and Initiative: Strong self-sufficiency and initiative in working on database projects.
- Resource Management: Excellent at identifying and marshaling resources for action.
