Senior Safety Manager Darien, WI
Pay Rate: $130,000 - $150,000 / year Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leading manufacturer of emissions-certified powertrains specializing in customized and fully integrated turnkey solutions for the leading global equipment manufacturers in the industrial, transportation, and energy markets manufacturers. Our facilities are housed in one million square feet of engineering, assembly, operations, and distribution space across seven facilities. Summary: The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive workplace safety programs to ensure a healthy, safe, and compliant environment. This role identifies potential hazards, conducts audits, implements preventative measures, and drives a proactive safety culture throughout the manufacturing facility. This position is based in Darien, WI, but will cover all of our facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois. We expect roughly 75% of the Senior Safety Manager's time will be spent in Wisconsin. Key Responsibilities: Safety Program Development and Management
- Develops, maintains, and updates the company's formal written safety program based on evolving needs and regulatory requirements?.
- Conducts risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Establishes and enforces emergency response plans, fire safety protocols, and incident reporting systems.
Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
- Investigates and analyzes all workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses; prepares detailed reports and recommends preventive measures?.
- Collaborates with leadership and employees to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective.
Training and Education
- Develops, reviews, and delivers engaging and effective safety training programs?.
- Provides orientation safety training for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees.
- Disseminates information on hazardous materials, carcinogens, and safety regulations to all departments.
Regulatory Compliance and Audits
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations?.
- Conducts regular safety audits, inspections, and internal reviews to detect violations and ensure corrective actions.
- Prepares, disseminates, and maintains memos, reports, and administrative records related to health and safety programs.
Safety Leadership and Culture
- Works with management to develop and maintain a strong, positive safety culture?.
- Oversees and manages a team of safety professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and support.
- Acts as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies and ensures the site is prepared for inspections.
Workers' Compensation and Program Evaluation
- Manages workers' compensation claims, documentation, and coordination?.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of safety initiatives through established metrics and recommends improvements.
- Continuously improves procedures based on incident data, industry standards, and safety trends.
General Responsibilities
- Monitor and coordinate safety programs at the site level.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management
Key Requirements: Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 8+ years of Occupational Health and Safety experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Manufacturing industry experience, ideally in industrial, electrical, or enclosure manufacturing environments.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations?.
- Ability to identify and evaluate potential hazards and recommend solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering effective safety training programs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective leadership skills with a proven track record in team development.
- Competency in data analysis, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily onsite at the manufacturing facilities in Darien and Beloit, WI, with frequent presence on production floors.
- May occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds and work in various industrial environmental conditions.
- Limited travel may be required for training, corporate meetings, or external audits.
