We are seeking a highly skilled
Director, Engineering
& Technology,
to lead our engineering team in the launch of new products while driving continuous improvement in manufacturing and process engineering. This role will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, supporting operations, ensuring high-quality standards, and providing technical expertise in quoting, design validation, and production support. This role will stay up to date on leading technology, evaluate current technology and make recommendations in regards to future capital spend and process requirements.
Essential Functions
New Product Introduction:
- Lead New Product Introduction by collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
- Conduct risk assessments for new products, identifying potential manufacturing challenges and proactively developing solutions.
- Project Management of large new product initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Support:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing engineering/process-related issues.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to reduce waste and improve cost-effectiveness.
- Stay current on Circuit Board Production Technology and develop and maintain a future roadmap for investments that meet capacity needs and bring key advancements and capacities to Pro-Active Engineering.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Serve as a key member of the Management Team, contributing to the development and execution of the company's overall strategy and long-term goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of design, manufacturing, and process engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Establish and track engineering goals, performance metrics, and project timelines.
- Coordinate with other departments to align engineering strategies with business objectives.
Operations & Quoting Support:
- Provide technical support to sales and operations teams for customer quotes and proposals.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support procurement by specifying electrical components and assisting in supplier evaluations.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all product and process designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality policies.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures or production defects.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures in engineering and manufacturing processes.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for building, developing, mentoring, and performance management of high-performance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. This position oversees various positions, including Manufacturing and Process Engineers, Technicians, Leads, etc.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7-10 years in an Engineering related field with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in electronics manufacturing and process development.
- Experience with leading New Product Introduction.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, automation, and process improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ISO, ANSI, etc.).
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, communication skills and leadership skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 10+ Years in an Engineering related field with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Previous experience on a Management Team.
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Background in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
