Position Description

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions


  1. Conduct human research in clinical nutrition and related areas, and literature review, analyze and write up data and papers, Conduct systematic literature review, tabulate and analyze data. Conduct Research and Perform Data and Statistical Analysis. Write and help in writing grants and publications. Extensive knowledge and experience in human obesity management is essential.
  2. May supervise research and mentor student assistants.
  3. Assist with writing grant proposals for internal and external funds.
  4. Manage the clinical nutrition facility and ensure that it stays in good condition.
  5. Ensure that the clinic is in compliance with all EH&S and other regulations and procedures.
  6. Manuscript writing and publishing research.
  7. Abstract writing and presenting research at local, regional, national, and international conferences.
  8. Carefully and methodically develop search strategy to conduct systematic reviews.
  9. Conducting extensive systematic literature review.
  10. Help in treatment of individuals for obesity management.
  11. Design and conduct various clinical trials, including help in the blood draw.

Required Qualifications

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Knowledge
Expertise in nutritional sciences and clinical nutrition and obesity. Ability to carry out research projects in human subjects, or existing data sets. Significant experience with obesity management using diet, amd lifestyle modification is a must. Experience in body composition determination with Bod-Pod, and metabolic rate determination using metabolic cart, needed. Experience Grant writing and manuscript writing experience. Ability and experience with presenting research at regional, national, or international conferences. Experience with IRB proposals (for human work). Experience with conducting systematic literature reviews, ability to categorize results, tabulate and interpret them and write manuscripts.
Preferred Knowledge
Proficiency with statistical analysis and data interpretation. Experience with mentoring student researchers and overseeing environmental health and safety procedures in research labs.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience or degrees in human health care professions such as a physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant. Experience in independently carrying out an entire research project in clinical research (human subjects model). History of publications and presentations at national or international conferences. Ability to mentor student researchers. Grant writing experience.
