General Summary of Position Learns research design in a specific area of study to contribute to the advancement of health of our patients while impacting all aspects in our tripartite mission of education, research and clinical care. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Consistently demonstrates support for compliance in the performance of job duties and responsibilities by a) developing and maintaining knowledge of, and performing job functions in compliance with, rules, regulations, policies, and statutes that affect his/her job; b) maintaining knowledge of and performing job functions in compliance with MedStar Health and MedStar Health Research Institute policies and procedures; and c) reporting compliance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner. Develops a rigorous research project with mentor focused on a specific area of study. Effectively disseminates research through journal publications, conference papers, presentations, and other methods. Engages in research funding activities including participating in proposal writing efforts, leading the submission of research proposals, and identifying other funding opportunities. Establishes at least one area of core area of expertise that contributes to research and operational impact. Attends research lectures and clinical conferences as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Education Doctoral degree MD required Experience Experience with research methods preferred Previous experience in healthcare preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication and organizational skills are expected. Ability to write and publish in academic journals. Must be highly motivated, dedicated individual, capable of working both independently and on various team projects. This position has a hiring range of $21 - $23
