ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's structural engineering group plays a vital role in enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. This diverse range of structural engineering services helps improve mobility for the traveling public.

VHB's dynamic Maine team is looking to add Structural design/engineers to its expanding and innovative group! This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and impactful projects across the region. Utilize state-of-the-art tools and technologies to design and develop transformative transportation/ infrastructure solutions.

Structural Designer - Engineer (Bridge and Transportation) - Maine

    Work on major bridge and other complex transportation projects
  • Provide technical support/mentorship to junior structural engineering staff
  • Perform oversight of engineering design for bridges and other transportation infrastructure
  • Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates and calculation.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports, etc.

Skills and Attributes

  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation experience
  • Must possess strong project management and technical skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete) and seismic analysis
  • Familiarity with structural engineering software (AASHTOware, LARSA 4D, MDX, midas Bridge, Mathcad, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Bridge/Transportation projects required
  • B.S. Civil Engineering (1-2 years may be substituted for a Master's degree)
  • EIT required; PE license expected or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
