- Responsible for coordinating and managing safety inspections and audits in support of SCJ's 7 Safety Absolutes
- Provides support to the SHE Department in a variety of duties while maintaining compliance in OSHA, NFPA, and EPA
- Supports the hazardous work permitting processes for high-risk activities including hot work and confined space entry requests while coordinating necessary support for safe job performance
- Support and coach worker safety within the manufacturing operations and for the Bay City facility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform, document and maintain inspections and audits of safety programs to comply and support assessment of compliance with regulatory and internal SHE requirements
- Actively conducts safety observations with managers, supervisors, or program champions and provides feedback to team members
- Facilitates engagement of employee led SHE teams in value-added activities identified by the site leadership team
- Support implementation of SHE campaigns, policy, and program changes as necessary.
- Supports site injury reduction plan by driving day to day activities and operator interactions that deliver physical risk reduction and culture change
- Assists monthly data collection, review and input of SHE KPIs into corporate SHE management system (Entropy). Also, track, execute and coordinate other SHE Master Plan tasks as assigned.
- Partners with site Manufacturing, Maintenance and Engineering functions to evaluate SHE-critical processes and machine interactions
- Assists with training and coaching for the 7-Safety Absolutes and other safety related topics.
- Assists with Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
- Partners with SCJ Job Sponsors to manages onsite project-related activities consistent with SCJ's High-Hazard Work Authorization Standard
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and experience with understanding and applying OSHA Standards.
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Associate degree
- Process auditing experience to verify compliance
- Training in Incident Investigation - Root Cause Analysis
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Preventative maintenance familiarity
- Demonstrated experience in training and coaching others
- Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
- Must work as part of a team
- Assimilates and/or secures relevant information to assess the risks and benefits of alternatives.
Job Requirements:
- Full time
- Work hours range between 6:00AM - 4:30PM, M-F, occasional nights/weekends
- 0-10% travel
- Office environment 10% of time
- Manufacturing environment varies - up to 90% of time
