Responsibilities

While direct care for patients with a cancer diagnosis is what we are known for, we provide services and support for those with benign breast conditions as well as those at risk for a future oncological abnormality. Our breast clinic supports patients that have benign conditions or known or suspected genetic mutations, strong family history, or atypical breast biopsies to monitor their health and provide tools to maintain wellness.

We are looking for a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support ongoing growth in this area. You will work with our providers, and medical professionals in the community, to serve our patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages full time weekday schedule of personal caseload of patients deemed or believed to be at high risk for a cancer diagnosis.
  • Evaluate, assess and manage a wide variety of patients with benign breast disease (such as breast pain, abnormal breast imaging, nipple discharge, high risk lesions), high risk for breast cancer due to family history or high-risk lesions or genetic mutations.
  • Support Breast Surgeons in follow up clinic care
  • Perform Genetic education and Risk assessment.
  • Independently provide care in outpatient setting including new patients and follow-up care.
  • Functions independently to perform a complete history and physical exam.
  • Formulates treatment plans.
  • Orders imaging studies and diagnostic procedures, explained necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patient.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to include APP providers, breast surgeons, medical oncology as well as compassionate support and ancillary staff.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education
  • Current Minnesota RN license and current certification as Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a practicing NP
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effect of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred
  • Prefer previous experience in oncology

Physician Assistant

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a practicing Physician Assistant
  • Prefer previous experience in oncology
  • Current MN state licensure and current CPR certification required
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effect of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment strongly preferred

SALARY: $100,000-180,000

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
