Teaching Assistant Professor in Mathematics - WVU Tech (Beckley)

West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is a divisional campus of West Virginia University (WVU) focused on four-year undergraduate education. The campus is located in Beckley, West Virginia, near the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, world-class whitewater rafting, and other outdoor recreation activities. The Department of Mathematics in the School of Arts and Sciences seeks to hire a full-time, teaching-track position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Teaching-track positions are not eligible for tenure but are hired on a 3-year, renewable contract and are eligible for promotion. The successful candidate will mainly teach Math 122 - Quantitative Skills Reasoning - for students who are not prepared for college-level algebra and will serve as organizer for other sections of this course or as directed by the Chair of the School of Arts & Sciences. Other duties typically assigned to WVU Tech faculty include: service on committees, academic advising, outreach, and curriculum development. Research is not part of this position.

Must have at least a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics or a related discipline (for example: Statistics, Mathematics Education...etc.). Commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, and good communication skills are essential. An ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching freshman level classes. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
