Dialysis Assistant - Northwest Detroit Lahser - 40hours/week

Our dialysis center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dialysis Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to efficient dialysis unit operations by performing stocking and custodial duties.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Detroit Northwest Lahser Dialysis is a 24-station unit operating three shifts, six days a week handling complex patients from ages 20-90 years old. Many require assistance with mobility devices. Operating hours for patients are 5:00 am - 8:00 pm and team members are scheduled from 4:30 am to 8:30 pm. Employee schedules are made through several shift designs. Patients are medically managed by several Nephrologist and Advanced Practice practitioners (APP) We have Registered Dietitians and Social Workers to address concrete patient needs such as transportation or dietary needs. Unit staffing includes a Nurse Manager, many Registered Nurses, and Dialysis Clinical Technicians. We have additional support staff of Biomed Techs and Dialysis Assistants overseen by a technical leader.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

• Properly clean patient equipment and tear down machines.
• Maintains storage of supplies and equipment.
• Follows standard precautions and infection control policies and procedures for dialysis setting, including OSHA regulations and MSDS information sheets.
• Treats patients and families with respect, dignity and compassion.
• Maintains neat clean and safe work area, which includes ancillary equipment. Responsible for helping minimize waste in assigned unit. Understands Lean principles.
• Prepares blood samples for shipment.
• Assists clinical staff as needed in treatment area, (e.g. holding needle sites, transporting, assisting with weighing, etc).
