The Clinical Trials Outcomes Center (CTOC), Co-Directed by Scott D. Solomon, MD and Brian Claggett, PhD, is an academic research organization (ARO) contracted by and partnering with study sponsors to provide primary and secondary biostatistical analysis and consulting services for primarily late-stage global cardiovascular clinical trials. The CTOC is a well-established and growing ARO with 10-15 active and ongoing service contracts with a legacy portfolio of over 50 clinical programs from which analyses may occur. Through close collaboration and with the highest degree of scientific rigor, the CTOC supports a wide range of activities including study design, establishment of statistical analysis plans, statistical analysis and programming services, and associated FDA presentation to support primary analysis and/or subsequent, secondary analyses of study results.
The Data Analyst will work as part of a team of clinicians and scientists working on high-dimensional biomarker research projects. These research projects are designed to enable discoveries that will profoundly impact human health and disease. The candidate will require professionalism, self-motivation, and an ability to work independently with regular supervision. The Data Analysis will be highly motivated and able to learn new analytical skills. The Data Analyst may be responsible for the following activities:; cleaning and analyzing large databases of patient data; statistical programming; validation testing; contributing to the preparation and presentation of research results in the form of summary tables, figures for both written and oral presentations of study data; indirectly liaising with Global Study Leaders, MGB-wide and other global investigators and Institutions on collaborative research activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Responsible for performing core Data Analyst functions as interpreted and directed by CTOC Co-Directors:

  • Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses.

  • Maintain and develop a variety of datasets. Interpret, summarize, and review statistical methods of various research projects.

  • Perform select literature reviews.

2) Responsible for ensuring high-quality collection and organization of research patient data.

3) Responsible for maintaining and analyzing large research databases containing high-dimensional biomarker and outcomes data.

4) Contribute to study design as well as creation and implementation of analytical plans for specific research projects or a set of research projects.

5) Contribute to the preparation and presentation of research results in the form of oral presentations at meetings and conferences as well as in the form of original research publications.

6) Coordinate collaborative data analysis related activities with investigators within other Harvard departments and at other institutions across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America.

QUALIFICATIONS

MS in Data Science or Biostatistics required

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Able to multitask and assign priorities in a busy environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with a dynamic team.

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience and knowledge of at least one of the following statistical programming applications: SAS, STATA, R, MatLab.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.

  • Candidate must be highly organized and have precise attention to detail.

  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects' rights and individual needs.
