JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Under the Director of Pediatric Operations, the Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Research Operations Manager - Senior Professional to manage and lead the Pediatric Research Resource Office (PRRO) including the ongoing efforts of three separate functions within the department of pediatrics: clinical research, basic science research, and research data/quality management. This position is responsible for the strategic development of the department in terms of growth in the research mission. This position will prepare and successfully implement business and strategic plans to meet the overall vision of department and its leadership as well as evaluate the effectiveness of those strategies. This position will be responsible for overseeing all the clinical research activity within the department and will work closely with Leadership and the Four Diamonds Project Manager to strategize and implement the Four Diamonds Programs, Clinical Activities and allocations as Four Diamonds implements the evolving vision and programming.

This position will be the face of pediatric research for the Department of Pediatrics, and will be expected to be the senior expert in pediatrics on all research administrative matters. Additional responsibilities will also include managing and directing the PRRO team, dealing with HR issues and advising on conflict resolution strategies, developing successful relationships with senior leaders outside of the department and the institution (Vice Deans, leadership at UP, contacts within industry from which clinical trials are initiated, etc), utilizing advanced, professional communication skills in both verbal and written form, and dealing with complex situations that require providing clear and accurate direction or direct oversight.

The position requires a person who can work independently but also function as part of a larger management team. The ability to demonstrate awareness of emerging trends, and to proactively address issues; review completed work of others for conformity to policy; delegate tasks to others; facilitate optimal group dynamics and evaluate employee performance, and recommend appropriate developmental opportunities; develop and implement practices that promote a culture of diversity, safety, and environmental consciousness and that is conducive to effective relationships among diverse groups of employees. Superior interpersonal skills are needed to effectively manage a team. Excellent written and verbal communication is needed.This position will be hired at the Senior Manager level.

$97,100.00 - $145,700.00
