Construction Crew Leader

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
What will you do?
The Construction Crew Leader plays an integral part in building and repairing homes. Lead groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers and homeowner families in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment, thus, developing and enhancing your volunteer management and construction skills.
- Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday on the build site.
- Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
- Projects may include new construction, rehabilitation, critical home repair and weatherization projects.
- Lead small groups of volunteers and facilitate safe and positive experiences for everyone working on site.
- Maintain site safety by adhering to Habitat construction safety policies, modeling best practices and guidelines, volunteer education and site monitoring.
This position will focus on home construction, home repair, neighborhood revitalization, volunteer services, and research, monitoring, and/or evaluation aspects
of Habitat affiliate operations.

- Unique projects: Construction crew leaders will experience how our Habitat organization specializes in creating a new Habitat community of 7 homes which are energy-efficient and differing in model, elevation and size. We will break ground on these homes on this unique neighborhood in the spring/summer and the AmeriCorps member will be able to work on homes from start to finish to learn construction progression and to see the neighborhood begin to grow. In addition, the Neighborhood Revitalization Program is directed fully by the AmeriCorps Member (after training/education) to meet with families to recruit local low-income, non-Habitat homeowners, assess the home with construction, perform agreed upon minor exterior critical repair, front yard clean up and landscaping and painting of the exterior and trim with a team of volunteers they also manage, direct and maintain safety. The Member is responsible for data collection including work performed, home information, budget and progress toward funding partner goals for the program. The Member will also participate in the annual Collegiate Challenge Week welcoming a spring break university group and Women Build to welcome 200 community women to build on one day. The Member will receive certifications from HFHI and Competent Person Certification.
When will you serve?
Start dates are flexible and based on this location's availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than August 2025.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
