Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Multilingual Policy and Outreach position is located within the Consortium and State Relations department and will report to the Senior Director of Consortium and State Relations. This position is responsible for researching, monitoring, reporting, and disseminating policy documents tied to bi/multilingual education, managing relationships with state and national bi/multilingual education organizations and leaders, and informing the overall strategy for WIDA Espanol. The person in this role will serve as WIDA's national outreach expert maintaining relationships with peer organizations and reporting on the bi/multilingual policy landscape to WIDA leadership and when relevant, the Consortium Membership. The Assistant Director will lead a small team of two direct reports and collaborate closely with the other Assistant Directors within the department. In addition, this role will present at conferences, influence product decisions related to bilingual educational materials and curriculum and inform WIDA decisions in the field of bilingual and multilingual education.

This position will be eligible for fully remote work as assigned by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A successful candidate will have the ability to work from home or an alternate office location as the position's Headquarters Location. This means that business travel and travel back to UW-Madison's campus would be compensated and eligible for reimbursement. Responsibilities:
Investigates, researches, gathers, analyzes, and summarizes institutional data in support of information and research needs for planning and policy-making decisions. Provides management information, data analyses, and policy reports to inform strategic planning, decision-making, and resource allocation at the school, college, or divisional level. Provides advice to, and performance management support for a school, college, or division's leadership.

  • 20% Provides analysis and consultation on a variety of administrative-related matters. Applies subject matter knowledge to support decisions and policymaking through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems
  • 20% Designs, collects, analyzes, and researches data according to established procedures and regulations
  • 20% Prepares and disseminates statistical reports to institutional programs, working units, and leadership
  • 10% Serves as liaison and contact to school, college, or divisional stakeholders reporting and compliance, external surveys, and statistics and data
  • 10% Participates in establishing guidelines and procedures to ensure adequacy, quality, and reliability of information sources to ensure information systems and databases manage, store, and retrieve data according to established policies, procedures, and reporting regulations
  • 5% Informs the overall WIDA Espanol strategy for WIDA and provides internal consultation for product development
  • 5% Represents WIDA in state and national policy conversations tied to bilingual and multilingual education
  • 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, managing, conducting performance evaluations, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Education:

Required
Master's Degree in the field of language teaching, education, public policy, or related field


Qualifications:

- Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish
- Minimum 2 years of experience planning and conducting policy research and preparing research or policy briefs and reports
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching or administrative leadership in the field of language learning education
- Experience supervising a team, providing feedback and mentoring staff to guide their work
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative research methods and incorporating charts and tables to enhance report readability
- Experience serving on or working with state or federal policy groups and national educational organizations, such as NABE, NAELPA, TESOL, or ACTFL
- Demonstrated experience using critical thinking skills used to resolve problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication, specifically public speaking and effective report writing

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.
