Job Description

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for contemporary music and community engagement? The University of Missouri's School of Music is seeking a dynamic Associate Director to lead and grow the Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI) - a nationally recognized program at the forefront of innovation in new music.

In this pivotal role, you'll manage MNMI's operations, from strategic planning and programming to budget oversight and grant acquisition. You'll also collaborate with world-class composers, performers, and educators, making a tangible impact on the cultural life of the university and broader community.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily operations of MNMI, including concert production, artist engagement, and outreach
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for MNMI's continued growth and artistic excellence
  • Manage budgets, secure grants, and ensure sound financial practices
  • Engage with community stakeholders, external artists, media, and donors to elevate MNMI's profile
  • Oversee communications and marketing initiatives to drive participation and awareness
  • Coordinate application and admissions processes for MNMI programs
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration on programming and guest artist selection
  • Supervise staff and student workers; foster a collaborate and creative work culture
  • Represent MNMI at campus and community events, building strong networks and partnerships

Shift

This is a 40 hours/week job with flexibility on days and time due to performances and work in the community.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one degree in music or an arts-related field
  • 4+ years of experience in arts programming, concert production, or community engagement
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability in budget management and grant writing
  • A passion for contemporary music and a commitment to fostering artistic innovation
  • Familiarity with higher education administration and artistic program development
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875.20 to $65,000.00 yearly

Grade: GGS - 010
