Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. We are seeking a SharePoint Technical Specialist with capabilities in UI/UX for our DHS program. You create both functional and visually engaging SharePoint solutions that address our clients' needs and help us grow the success of our program. The program aims to improve information sharing and collaboration among private and public stakeholders to safeguard the nation from various threats. This fully remote role is part of a small, agile team, offering the freedom to innovate and quickly implement your ideas. Responsibilities

As a SharePoint technical specialist, you will have the opportunity to do the following:

    Design and develop SharePoint 2016 sites using HTML, CSS, and jQuery, ensuring they are both functional and visually appealing.
  • Participate in virtual team check-ins to align on priorities and tackle ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to refine requirements and oversee user testing.
  • Some days may focus on creating wireframes and prototypes in Figma and Adobe tools, while also developing marketing materials like newsletters.
  • Troubleshoot issues, provide technical leadership, and stay updated on the latest trends to keep SharePoint solutions cutting-edge.

Provide SharePoint Front-End Development (60%)

  • Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint 2016 sites, pages, and web parts with a focus on user experience and interface design.
  • Configure and manage metadata, content types, and site columns to enhance content organization, searchability, and consistency across sites.
  • Configure and manage user access levels and permissions to ensure secure and appropriate access the SharePoint sites and content.
  • Leverage front-end coding languages (ex. HTML, CSS, jQuery) to enhance the look and feel of SharePoint 2016 sites.
  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into functional SharePoint solutions.
  • Build workflows with SharePoint Designer and Power Automate.
  • Plan, execute, and oversee UAT to ensure developed solutions meet user requirements and expectations.

Provide SharePoint Web Design (40%)

  • Create wireframes and prototypes to visualize and communicate design concepts before implementation and to enable rapid iterative development using Figma.
  • Create intuitive, user-friendly designs based on UI/UX principles and best practices. Understand of color combinations and their impact on user emotions and perception.
  • Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or Sketch to create visually appealing layouts, graphics, and images.
  • Adhere to USWDS and CISA style standards on fonts, colors, and images.


Qualifications

  • Must be able to hold an active DHS EOD Clearance.
  • Must have 5 or more years' experience providing SharePoint technical skills as a Site Collection Administrator and specifically at least 1 year of SharePoint 2016 or lower experience.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and debug issues in the development process.
  • Have excellent communicator, both written and verbally. Excellent storyteller, able to leverage both qualitative and quantitative data and insights to bring to life problems, solutions, and opportunities.
  • Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple, concurrent projects and deliverables.
  • Need to show customer-first mindset with a great eye for design and demonstratable history of delivering high quality deliverables.
  • Must be able to work well remotely both independently and/or within a team environment.


Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $91,600.00/Yr. - USD $153,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
