Your Opportunity Through a team of employees, this position is responsible for all Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable activities for the Company which include the establishment and administration of policies for credit to customers, setting guidelines for collecting on credit, and considering whether to securitize receivables.Additionally, this position will develop and ensure procedures related to the collection of amounts due from outside parties are being followed to reduce our accounts receivables.This position requires knowledge of the customer and the ability to analyze accounting statements. Responsibilities
Leads the management of and collection efforts related to Smithfield Foods receivables by reviewing key credit metrics including collection rates and past due accounts to determine appropriate action. Leads the management of and efforts related to Accounts Receivable, including timely and accurate cash application. Establishes Days Sales Outstanding and related collection goals and ensures that goals are achieved by the credit team. Responsible for the creation and publication of reports reflecting the status of Smithfield Foods receivable accounts and their collection status by developing and analyzing reports that present this information correctly. Ensures reports are disseminated to finance, sales, and senior management as appropriate. Facilitates training and continuous improvement efforts for the credit and AR departments to ensure best practices and technology are administered effectively. Coordinates legal action which might be undertaken as part of the collection process by working with Smithfield Food's legal counsel. Coordinates the maintenance of collection files by developing procedures for the recording and filing of both written and personal communications between debtors with delinquent accounts. Ensure that daily activities are recorded correctly within the accounting system.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Accounting, or related field and 5+ years of Credit or Accounting experience, require 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required. Proficient in using SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel and other businesssystem tools. Strong process improvement and change management skills. Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to complete projects timely and accurately Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for supervision of the Credit/Collections department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
