The pay for this position ranges from $127000 - $138000.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the efficient and timely general support of FCE's fleet and site-specific equipment, ownership of plant commissioning operations, and product development support.



  • Regularly monitors long-term balance of plant (BOP) and module performance data, short term transient data analysis, and root cause analysis, and GMCC and Field Service coordination and direction.
  • Interfaces with various engineering and technology departments related to module and BOP performance, troubleshooting, and engineering design change.
  • Manages and/or provides on and off-hour emergency response including critical first line review of forced outages, critical plant performance reviews, and assignment of support personnel as needed.
  • Responsible and accountable for plant commissioning operations from installation completion though the declaration of commercial operation.
  • Collaborates with Engineering throughout the product development process including participation in detailed design reviews, serviceability reviews, HAZOP reviews, and EH&S Assessment.
  • Supplies schedule input to project management regarding the duration, predecessor ties, and resource requirements for first article commissioning activities.
  • Reviews engineering design and equipment documentation to develop commissioning and functional performance testing plans.
  • Directs operators and field service through plant commissioning and functional performance testing.
  • Oversees creation of performance assessment reports submitted to the customer as part of the declaration of commercial operation.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to achieve corporate and departmental Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepares and administers department budget within established guidelines for work within Operations Engineering scope of supervision.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations.
  • Ensures that Ops Engineers are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated.
  • Actively participates in root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for departmental compliance with all aspects of corporate Environmental, Health and Safety programs.


  • Establishes clear direction and continuous improvement expectations for the team.
  • Performs other duties as required.



Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or related discipline

Experience: Minimum (10) ten years' industry experience; (5) five of which are in a leadership role.

Candidate must be knowledgeable with experience in:



  • Strong Analytical Skills: Proficient in situational analysis, problem definition, and solution generation to drive system and corporate-wide improvements.
  • Change Agent: Results oriented advocate of continuous improvement in all areas; people, processes, and products, and must be able to multi-task and respond quickly to change and with urgency.
  • Broad Experience Base: Technical background in several disciplines including but not limited to EH&S, manufacturing, customer support, and general business management.
  • Computers: MS Office Suite, with a strong proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software packages as directed by FCE management.



Physical Requirements/Working Conditions



  • Must be able to physically work in an office environment, where work is sedentary.
  • Be willing to work over normal schedule as necessary in support of the business.
  • Must participate in emergency response to plant failures.


  • Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, and other PPE as required.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and speak in English to ensure team communication and to be able to follow written procedures.
  • Must be willing to work as part of an integrated team and cross functionally with other departments.
  • Occasional travel between the Torrington and Danbury locations, and to site facilities as necessary.
