JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Four Diamonds is a mission-driven, philanthropic fund within Development and Alumni Relations at Penn State University, housed at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. It raises funds to support Penn State Children's Hospital at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The mission of Four Diamonds is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a highly organized and strategic Project Manager to oversee the financial and operational management of Four Diamonds funds. This pivotal role will ensure the optimal allocation and utilization of resources to support patient care initiatives, cutting-edge pediatric cancer research, and clinical trials. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with the Four Diamonds Director, Development team, Pediatric Department leadership, and Four Diamonds researchers to drive forward innovation and enhance support for pediatric cancer care.

Key responsibilities will include overseeing the Four Diamonds fund portfolio including the distribution of funds, ensuring adherence to financial policies, and presenting comprehensive financial reports and allocation strategies to senior leadership. Additionally, the Project Manager will actively participate in transformative program committees and strategic planning sessions, making informed recommendations to optimize fund utilization and maximize impact. This position plays a critical role in the ongoing success and growth of the Four Diamonds program, ensuring that resources are managed efficiently to advance both research and clinical outcomes in pediatric oncology. This position will be hired at a senior professional level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the strategic planning of Four Diamonds initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader departmental and institutional objectives.
  • Monitor fund usage, ensuring adherence to budget constraints and donor expectations, and ensure that funds are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and institutional guidelines for fund distribution and utilization.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize fund utilization and ensure resources are being used to their fullest potential to advance pediatric cancer care.
  • Present detailed financial and allocation information to senior leadership, helping to guide decision-making and program direction.
  • Prepare regular updates and detailed reports on fund status, including allocation breakdowns, research progress, and program outcomes.
  • Actively participate in allocation and transformative program committees, providing insights and recommendations for program development and fund distribution.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to assess the impact and effectiveness of funded initiatives, and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, safety, and inclusion within the department, ensuring equitable opportunities for all team members.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, with the ability to assess financial data and make informed recommendations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presentations, reports, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a larger management team.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies, review work for compliance, and oversee large-scale funding initiatives.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting tools, project management software, and data analysis systems.

Project Management industry certification(s) or equivalent relevant education/experience required (e.g., PMI)

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$76,700.00 - $129,500.00
