Director of Engineering

BLR Aerospace, an industry leader in performance
enhancing aerospace products, is currently seeking a full time Director
of Engineering to design and deliver our strategic engineering efforts.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing company with an
international brand. You will collaborate with our full team in our Everett
office.

With a global footprint in both fixed wing and rotor wing markets, BLR Aerospace designs, certifies and sells performance enhancing products, for both turbo prop and piston aircraft, as well as various helicopter platforms with Winglets, FastFin's and more.

Job Summary

  • BLR leader and a technical resource for the Engineering group and company overall
  • Directs all engineering product development, obtaining all necessary airworthiness approvals and ensuring all products meet requisite quality requirements
  • Directs all aspects of the technical requirements of a project, including design, stress, damage tolerance, aerodynamic and other required technical analysis
  • Hires, trains, motivates and evaluates the performance of engineering staff and oversees daily activities
  • Has full drawing and document approval authority
  • Responsible for resolving technical issues and for making final technical decisions
  • Defines and tracks key performance indicators to assure team's continued effectiveness
  • Coordination with Operations, Suppliers, Sales, Program Management and Customers is required
  • Contributes to the preparation of technical proposals, including development of the statement of work, non-recurring engineering estimates, and the parts kit list
  • Ensures all engineering projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Understands and implements all technical
    regulatory requirements of a project and works closely with Federal Aviation
    Administration and/or its representatives to ensure they are met. Coordinate
    with the FAA and other worldwide Civil Aviation Authorities to ensure that all
    products meet all the applicable Aviation Airworthiness Regulations.

  • Ability to create Certification Plans that meet all applicable regulatory requirements. Manage the development of new products to ensure all certification plan requirements are met

Required Experience and Education

  • 4-year technical degree
  • 12+ years of broad technical experience, with at least 5 of those years being in aerospace
  • 5+ years of engineering management, preferably in aerospace
  • Applicable experience in aircraft Stress, Fatigue and/or Damage Tolerance analysis highly preferred
