Responsible for:

The aluminum welder welds together aluminum components as specified by blueprints, work orders, and/or oral instructions. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for aluminum welding.

Essential Functions:


  • Lay-out, position, and secure aluminum parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
  • Tack-weld or weld aluminum components and assemblies, using welding equipment
  • Perform structural aluminum welding using a variety of procedures, such as the groove weld, fillet weld complete joint penetration, and partial joint penetration
  • Cuts aluminum materials, using powered saws, hand shears, acetylene torches and grinder
  • Welds aluminum components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned



Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

A minimum of 1 year certified aluminum welder experience.

Skills/Competencies:

Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of aluminum fabrications or other structures. Skilled in all operational aspects of aluminum welding.

Ability to stand, sit, walk, or drive for extended periods of time. Perform physical activities that frequently require bending at the waist, squatting, climbing, stooping, kneeling and reaching above the head. Ability to push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
