DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will be responsible for the operation of the coal, natural gas, and oil-fired boilers and their auxiliary equipment. You will serve as the lead worker for staff and follow standard operating procedures to provide leadership to staff members on shift. Your duties will include firing boilers, reading gauges, recording fuel consumption, and maintaining required records of steam production and fuel consumption. In this position, you will review the operation of all boiler plant equipment by visually inspecting, listening, and testing in order to detect any impending difficulties. You can expect to collect and test water samples, perform preventative maintenance, and operate various plant equipment. Additionally, you will conduct safety tests such as emergency shut down procedures and generator operations. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday - Saturday. Your schedule will be determined and may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as needed
- Free parking!

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
