Position Summary
National 4-H Council is seeking a Financial Systems Architect to join our Finance & Business Operations Team! Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Systems Architect will evaluate existing organizational systems to identify and integrate the most critical data and components. This essential role ensures that system design decisions are strategically driven to support efficient operations, compliance, and long-term planning. The Financial Systems Architect will play a key role in streamlining data integration, optimizing system functionality, and ensuring that financial information is accessible and actionable for organizational success.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, enhance and administer the architecture for technology platforms and third-party tools for all financial applications and empower financial system users to work more accurately and efficiently towards organizational objectives.
- Create and execute a roadmap of upgrades, enhancements and integrations.
- Control finance master data within the financial system ecosystem within the framework defined by each business unit executive.
- Partner with Information Technology team to enable integrated data flows across the technology stack and defined reports and establish system checks and validations
- Establish the internal controls within the system and build standard user roles that support appropriate access, segregation of duties, cost control and accurate financial reporting, when applicable
- Assess software releases and upgrades for business impact to ensure systems and reports stay current and operational. Gain buy-in from IT and Finance on new products for potential deployment in financial application ecosystem.
- Develop and execute security monitoring processes over audit logs, system performance, and permissions to ensure security and efficiency of financial systems. Troubleshoot and remediate disruptions to business continuity across all financial systems.
- Identify, drive, recommend and implement process automation, efficiencies and internal control enhancements within the financial application ecosystem, as approved by the VP, Controller.
- Lead feedback cycle on UX to consistently optimize Finance team and Associate financial system interaction.
- Translate business needs into technical and functional requirements for system selection, optimization, and replacement.
- Lead all phases of software development life cycle for all changes to existing and new financial systems, including maintenance of sandbox and management of UAT.
- Maintain expertise of emerging technologies across all financial systems.
- Develop the strategy for training application users.
- Influence adoption and effectively manage change.
- Oversee data governance for financial systems; collaborate with Operations, IT and Finance on development of data governance and cybersecurity policies and ensure data integrity, compliance, consistency and security across all corporate financial systems. Ensure financial systems are equipped with adequate disaster recovery and backup plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information technology, or business administration (or any equivalent combination of relevant work experience and training).
- 10 years of experience in financial systems roles with progressive responsibility; 5 or more years of experience as a key member of financial system implementation team, with experience leading multiple deployments of a variety of platforms and extensive experience configuring systems and designing financial ecosystems architecture.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, building, and administering architecture for technology platforms and third-party tools across financial applications, ensuring user efficiency and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit accounting operations and reporting, with a thorough understanding of accounting principles specific to the nonprofit sector.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in finance, information technology or business administration.
- Relevant business/industry acumen with the ability to quickly understand business priorities, processes, and IT enablement potential.
- Highly proficient in dealing with ambiguity in fast-paced, high-change work environments.
- Strong ability to adapt quickly and make decisions that maximize impact in a short timeframe.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to achieve excellent multi-tiered communication across a variety of stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of Sage Intacct.
Travel Requirements: Travel by air, car, and/or rail may be necessary up to 10% to Washington, D.C.
