Lead Building Services Engineer

IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Lead Building Services Engineer to join our established team based at our EMEA office located in Cork or Dublin, Ireland.

The Building Services Lead Engineer works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Director of Building Services. The Senior Building Services Engineer may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. The Senior Engineer may work on several concurrent projects and some management responsibility is expected.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all HVAC, black utilities, public health services, building management systems, environmental monitoring systems and fire protection systems.
• A knowledge of clean utility systems is desirable.
• Assesses the requirements of a project, breaks project into tasks and works with Project Managers / Director of Building Services to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
• Writes scope of work documents for Mechanical Building Services design based on preliminary review meetings with the client.
• Prepares engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyzes the operation of existing systems.
• Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes / regulations is required.
• Assigns and reviews work of project design team. Checks progress of work and alerts the Project Manager of scope changes or the need for additional services.
• Reviews contractor technical bids and application for payments. Has a thorough understanding of the construction process.
• Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
• Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
• Promotes use of and participates in development of company design and production standards.
• Assists in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions.
• Special projects as assigned.

• A minimum of 8 years' experience in the design of BioPharm facilities and associated utilities for the cGMP production of biological and pharmaceutical drugs.

• A BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting.

• General knowledge of system design and applicable Building Services codes and standards.

• Has a demonstrated ability to manage projects, problem solve, communicate effectively to all key personnel and time.
