We are currently seeking a Manager, Billing Services Workers Compensation to join our team in Carlsbad, CA. What You'll Do As a Manager, Billing Services Workers Compensation, you will: Establishes revenue cycle benchmarks, standards of practice with policies and procedures consistent with organizational goals, infrastructure, state and federal, and payor specific requirements.
- Evaluates training programs to ensure content meets business needs. Assists with development and updates of training content, work instructions, and SOPs.
- Manages, supervises, and trains relevant personnel assigned to their payor group. Includes schedule management, achievement of KPI's, competencies, and holding the employees accountable for following all Breg policies, procedures, work instructions and SOPs.
- Assesses staff and provides timely and consistent feedback regarding technical proficiency and effectiveness. Provides constructive feedback, guidance, and reinforcement to employees regarding job performance. Works with staff to identify work goals and create individual development plans.
- Coordinates with the Director of Health Information Management to ensure the quality of the insurance, demographics, and claim information entered results in achievement of collection and billed to entered goals.
- Establishes and maintains revenue cycle duties across the organization that include prioritization of work (e.g., ensure there is a system of prioritization for claims processing and accounts receivables management depending on the volume, revenue, payer mix, etc.)
- Understands claim nuances for each payer, understands collection and denial trends, researches reimbursement process questions, and provides resolution to issues.
- Partners with the Payor Contract team to update payor notes and payor rules as needed in Breg Claim System (BCS).
- Proactively monitors revenue cycle reporting and provides relevant feedback to Billing Solutions, Health Information Management, and other Breg Departments on an ongoing basis. This includes charge capture, coding analysis, accounts receivable aging, denials, payment variance analysis, claim hold reports, credit balances, and adjustments.
- Collaborates with Cash Posting Team to ensure AR is posted timely and accurately.
- Keeps abreast of payor specific rules and regulations with respect to billing and other matters. Communicates this information to the other appropriate Breg Leaders, to help ensure increased cash flow and profitability on an ongoing basis.
- Works closely and partners with finance and the cash posting leaders to prepare month-end and year-end financial close.
- Implements new processes and protocols as these become necessary and assigned.
- Works with appropriate leadership to report on compliance issues around billing and coding. Be knowledgeable of rules and regulations to support other leadership in recognizing issues that may exist within responsible payer stream.
- Responsible for the budget and operating expenses of their payor workstream.
- Leadership responsibilities include the selection, development, performance management and continuous recalibration of staff; ensures appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation; performs administrative tasks associated with timekeeping, pay, performance, policy administration and other matters related to employment.
- Supports all other Billing Service department tasks and requirements as needed to support the Breg Billing Business.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive excellence in patient care and business solutions.
What You Bring
- Associates degree or trade certificate in an applicable field of study required. Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
- 5+ years of medical billing experience required.
- 2+ years of talent management experience in a healthcare billing role.
- Experience in Workers Compensation billing required.
- Experience with practice management software required.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience with Vendor Engagement a plus.
- Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.

Work Schedules include....
- May include variable start/end times outside of the company's standard business hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
- This position will require travel (up to 30%); primarily domestic to other sites and/or to corporate facilities. Occasional overnight trips will be required.
Compensation Salary Range: $84,600-$116,500/annually. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and business needs. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary/pay across all US locations. Actual pay is based on many factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, work experience, skill set, relevant trainings and certifications, and business needs.
