This position oversees Meijer Distribution Maintenance, including DC Facilities, Material Handling Equipment, Conveyors, Case Moving Machinery, and Refrigeration Systems. This role includes driving results and implementing distribution center maintenance strategies and metrics aimed at continuously improving, elevating and sustaining operating standards to a level of excellence.
What You'll be Doing:
- Lead, direct, coach, and motivate employees in a results-oriented way and ensures Maintenance Managers engage their employees in the same manner through empowerment, ownership, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Project management to ensure rapid response to requests for repair or services.
- Oversee negotiation and purchase of capital equipment.
- Identify and implement effective performance indicators and analytical tools to measure, drive, and communicate equipment utilization, develops action plans for improvement and reduces of operating costs.
- Manage vendor selection and relationships for parts and services.
- Provide accurate and effective performance reporting to Unit and Complex Directors.
- Support Distribution Safety initiatives through engagement and participation with the safety committees to ensure strong partnership on all safety issues throughout the facility.
- Ownership and leadership of maintenance of various distribution complexes across the Meijer six-state footprint, including those that operate on a 24/7 schedule.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, record retention and training necessary to meet all Federal and State Regulatory Compliance.
- Meet P&L goals and SG&A Reductions.
- Review, recommend and enact changes to ensure contractual compliance to budgeted accounts, including: internal and external upkeep to facility and grounds, pest control, snow removal, waste management and fire system maintenance accounts.
- Review and enact plans to reduce expenses for these accounts.
- Oversee the maintenance of all operating equipment.
- Enforce proper turn time of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure timely response to critical maintenance issues throughout the distribution center property.
- Review Facility Work Requests and prioritize the workflow.
- Track equipment downtime and preventative maintenance status and produces electronic reports.
- Generate Capital Expense Requests, make recommendations and coordinate projects, leveraging internal and external resources.
- Ensure maximum use of energy management system to reduce utility expenses.
- Oversee and control facilities maintenance, labor budget and expenses for all assigned P&L and budgeted items.
- Demonstrate 200% Safety Accountability (self and others).
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree - Industrial or Mechanical Engineering - or other equivalent technical field is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with compliance to all Federal and State regulatory guidelines.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in Maintenance Management in an industrial, manufacturing, or retail distribution environment required.
- Experience managing a large Maintenance organization.
- Maintenance software system experience.
- Requires strong interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively move a team forward to accomplish measurable goals in an environment of dignity and respect.
- Highly developed organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while simultaneously demonstrating an attention to detail to meet deadlines and complete tasks across a wide spectrum of team relations, safety, sanitation and SG&A control.
- Developmental ability to teach, train, set expectations; provide clear feedback to increase leadership skills and readiness with Maintenance Managers.
- Critical thinking ability to be thorough in research, quick to understand the most important factors and variables, utilize sound metrics, and make impartial fact- based decisions.
- Working knowledge to meet compliance requirements of Federal and State regulatory guidelines.
