How You Will Contribute:

Reporting under Director, Project Management as a Program Director, you will be responsible for the successful planning and execution of a highly complex program migrating existing circuits from in-service legacy optical equipment to current Ciena platforms (or other vendor platforms) for a large Service Provider customer.You will provide day-to-day leadership in a services organization that mirrors the mission and core values of the company and the customer. To accomplish this, you will bring thoughtful leadership and a collaborative, consultative approach to the role. To the customer, you will convey a keen understanding of this program along with expertise to navigate the multidimensional challenges involved in the planning and implementation of complex next generation networks

  • Inclusive of partner and direct Ciena employees, responsible for the management of the professional services team responsible for the successful planning and delivery of a highly complex migration program
  • Ensure target service margins are achieved, contributing to accurate revenue recognition, ensuring committed schedules and deliverables are met, and that projects meet customer's expectations for quality and service
  • Ensures that deviations to program targets and schedules are properly communicated, investigated, and followed up.
  • Build relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and positive customer experience;translate requirements into structured and executable tasks and milestones.
  • Collaboration with services partner management team to forecast upcoming workload and instill customer-specific best practices within partner base
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives surrounding deployment and project management best practices, leading to improved customer experience and YoY cost reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct internal and external executive-level communications regarding all aspects of programdelivery

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant years' work experience.
  • PMP Certification preferred, in process or planned
  • Demonstrated track record of project managing a large technology, network transformations and migration programs
  • Min 10-12+ years in technology industry
  • Fundamental understanding of the effort required to effectively migrate a complex, next generation telecommunication network.
  • Excellent written, verbal and client-facing communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and can work from high level departmental goals
  • Excellent systems level understanding and an ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies quickly
  • Ability to work within a high-performance team
  • Flexible, able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Some travel to customer location required

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in US is $133,600 - $213,400.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
