Lead Solder Technician
Location:Tucson, AZ Job ID: #70812 Pay Range: $25-32 Interim or Active Secret required for submittal * What are the main functions of this role?: o Micro-soldering under a microscope for an extensive period. o Build cables and harnesses from schematics. o Quality verification and inspection under a microscope o Identify, repair, and replace wire harnesses and cable assemblies. o Recognize failures, isolate problems, and suggest appropriate corrective action * Required Skill Sets: o Ability to solder electronic components including surface mount, ball grid arrays, quad flat packs, and through hole parts. o Operate multi-meters to conduct point-to-point current connection. o Ability to use microscopes to inspect micro-components for installation verification and failure identification. o Hot air rework and circuit card baking operations. o Preparation, application, and curing of materials such as Humiseal, Parylene, and other conformal coatings. o Ability to communicate in a team-based environment involving engineers and functional leadership. * Desired Skill Sets: o IPC J-Standard Solder Certification o Class 3 Solder Certification o Understanding of basic electronics and unpowered troubleshooting techniques. o Understanding of component installation to include Tombstoning, Dead-Bug, and other general post manufacturer techniques. o Ability to work with microscopic or fragile components such as 0201 resistors or 32AWG transformer wire. * Years of Experience Required (if any): 5+ * Education Level Required: Typically requires Associate degree or other 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience * How will the contractor's success be measured?: o Optimal yield of circuit card rework, First-Time-Yield > 0.95 o Harness construction verification, First-Time-Yield > 0.99 o Minimized damage during rework cycles, <1% errors * Culture : o Contractor will be working in a collaborative team environment, often communicating daily with engineers to obtain work instructions for circuit cards.
